Got the turbo to fit

Ok,i tore the car down again to fit the turbo on.This time i mounted the turbo with the
exhaust discharge on the pass side.I was worried that one of the coolant hoses would interfere with the mounting of the turbo, but it just fit in there. The only problem that looks like in gonna have is the wastegate. It seems theres not enough room to mount the wastegate actuator on the turbo. So i might have to convert it to an external gate. The other problem might be the intake for it.Since its facing the drivers side, theres a very tight fit to run an intake pipe to the pass side of the motor. What im gonna try to do is run the intake pipe under the car and connect to the factory air box. This way i dont have to mess around with extending the maf sensor wires and welding in a new fitting for the maf sensor to screw into. The down pipe looks like i might have to have a couple of tight 90 degree turns in it.Dont worry ill have mandrel piping, lol.Anyway here are the pics.Im getting tired of taking the exhaust manifold off and putting it back on everyday, haha.

nice man, I just got mine in on wednesday, be back there tomorrow to finish everything up on it. I ended up running mine the opposite way with the inlet towards the passenger side to make it easier to run all the IC piping.

Nice!!!
I couldnt mount the turbo that way,it wouldnt physically fit.Does your down pipe clear the trans mount? It has this big metal ring around it.Did you have to remove it for the dp to fit? What did you do for an intake?I might have to hit u up for an hpt tune to get it to run properly, when or if i ever get it done, lol.Good luck with your project.I might have to swing by run day and take a look at it.

I originally was gonna mount it the way you did, but the compressor housing of the turbo was hitting the coolant pipe in the back, DP I wasn't around for them making it, but he was supposed to have it done friday since I couldn't make it back last week. As for the intake, Kenny from C/A is making a T/B adapter elbow something like tag's. For tuning, I still need to get mine done first, once I figure it all out though, I'd be more than happy to give you a hand tuning your car. Also I have a gutted S/C that I honed out the outlet on it if you don't feel like destroying your S/C. Hopefully tomorrow I get it running and at least driveable, haven't really even seen the car for like 3 weeks and the 8 mpg I get with the monte just ain't cutting it as an everyday driver.

My plan is to go ptrblk's route.

You'll run a ported head and some upgraded performance cams ?

oh but of course. My friend is gonna do my head for me, nothing major, just a cleanup on the intake side and mild porting on the exhaust side. As for cams, one of these days when I get a chance I"ll send my spares out for a regrind. going to use the HKS evo 272 grind. and the usual upgraded valve train components. As for the other motor, whenever someone decided to make rods for us, I"ll put it back together. Have diamond racing pistons 9.5:1 compression, Cometic 2.0 head gasket, ARP head and main studs, and probably re use the stock crank.

Looking at the bends in the pipe you have there your Going to need some more of those Vibrant bend part number 2346. they are a tight radius bend.

You should also grab a heat blanket for the turbo exhaust housing. Don't wanna catch the fire wall material on fire.

thanks man, turbo fitment is actually pretty good. Have some nice wrap for the exhaust housing and DP so I should be ok. Once I get to the GT30R setup though, I"ll definitely be hitting you with questions.
couple right now...
which way did you setup the MAF, blow through or draw through?
and what issues did you see with tuning.

Looks good. Only question I have is about what your plan is for the air filter and intake piping!
