alleycat58 11-02-2005, 12:35 PM If you can find them on eBay or in a junkyard somewhere, the BBS wheels that were made for some of the SAAB 9-3s and 9-5s will fit as well, but I don't know if anyone sells them new or not.
madmike8 11-02-2005, 12:43 PM After someone remarked that they used '05 Malibu wheels as winter wheels on their SS, I did a search at wheelmax.com and came up with Exel E-2s in 18x7.5 +40mm 5x110 for $159 each...

you can find them on Gravana (http://www.gravanatuning.com/applications/2005_Chevrolet_Cobalt_SS_Coupe_2.0.aspx?cat=3) or Axis wheels (http://www.axiswheels.com/axis_wheels_weights_and_lips.html)
On the axis site when its says "any" means 5x110 which i have double checked with gravana and a few other places.
Chevypowered 12-10-2005, 10:39 AM I just ordered those casino ones from american racing wheels. Got them in 18 X 8" so i can fit some wider tires on.

05_Blue_B10WN_SS 12-13-2005, 09:48 PM Does anyone know if 15" Rims would fit with spacers?
Because its hard as hell to find 16" slicks.
Does anyone know if 15" Rims would fit with spacers?
Because its hard as hell to find 16" slicks.
Possibly, but taking a close look at my 16 steelies there is NO room left, with spaceers they would ahve to be some serious spacers to clear the caliper, just my opinion.
05_Blue_B10WN_SS 12-13-2005, 10:06 PM What is the back spacing on our (SS/SC) wheels and what is the back spacing on the 16's that are steelies?
Is there a difference in our front brakes and the base models?
Base model fits 15's no problem but it has to be specific 15s.
I saw a guy with the Saturn Redline with 15s on his car at norwalk.
Also, anyone know the size of the spare off hand?
CobaltArmyDude 01-01-2006, 06:02 AM you can find them on Gravana (http://www.gravanatuning.com/applications/2005_Chevrolet_Cobalt_SS_Coupe_2.0.aspx?cat=3) or Axis wheels (http://www.axiswheels.com/axis_wheels_weights_and_lips.html)

RH Evolution C5's, but for some reason that dont make them in a 5x110 bolt pattern from the research i have done, GM must of bought the rims and drilled them themselves.
DAI alloys Drama are 5x110 come in 17x7 and 18x8

does that mean they wouldnt fit on the LS?
NO, they might im not sure, all i was saying they arent made with 5x110 bolt pattern im sure the LS bolt pattern is very common so they should, thats if they still make the wheels. Hope this helps

And according to konig the smallest is 17's.

SS_Canuck 02-16-2006, 12:33 PM I have the Fastwheels F63 Evolution in 17" on my SS/SC at the moment as part of my "winter package" and doesn't look to bad at all. Been thniking about the same thing, The stock 18's look big to me so it's cool, but other wheels i have seen just look small. 19's maybe even 20's in the future. I will not go lower than 18 for summer wheels and there are a few that weigh pretty much the same thing regardless if they are 18's or 19's. We'll see.

Jon B. 02-22-2006, 08:22 PM Um, you must be the one kidding around. Those are not Slicks! Those are Drag Radials... There is a difference.
If you are running 16" Slicks, please post some pictures of them to prove me wrong.
Man I love the internet...
http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=egnsearch.asp&N=115+4294923107+4294921520+400206+4294793322+4294 904715+4294904668
Pretty much the same thing can be had at someplace like Jegs. I would REALLY consider trying the 15" though, and trying to make them fit. SO many more options for tires, 16's as you already know, are kinda hard to find.
Jon
Mad respect for GSoccer24 who hooked us up with all these. Everyone bow down!

just so everyone knows, this wheel is from my club's sponsor. i called them yesterday to see what else they offer and they let me know that the LeMans is not being produced due to lack of interest.
they do offer the ACE Radium and the DeCorsa Arch...i'm trying to find pics but both of those company's sites are flash so i can't right click and save the pics.

Tru trust me it been considered many times. I have heard that most if not all problems with adapters have been addressed but I have also heard of negitive effects on handling, size of wheel in relation to fenders in regards to rubbing and a few other things.
When it comes down too it I think the complaints come from the fact that we shouldn't have this problem. GM droppped the ball on this aspect of the car.
I find it highly unlikely in they considered the relative lack of aftermarket wheels for the pattern since they aren't about to pick it with something like that in mind.
Dazz motorsports will drill almost any 1 piece RH wheel to 5x110. From what I understood there will be a minimal charge if any.

IonNinja 03-03-2006, 11:34 PM what exactly plays a part in choosing a bolt pattern for a vehicle?
how is it that the Ion and Cobalt got one of the most popular wheel patterns (4x100) and you guys got stuck with 5x110...is there some kind of technical reason behind the choice.

I’m not the expert but from what I have seen any wheel 16" under is going to get a 4x100. Honestly there really aren’t any other 4 bolt patterns, 2 or 3 others. As for 5 bolt there is a retarded # of them. Now GM could have gone with a 5x100 which would have been nice but I think it had to do with structural integrity for a 5 bolt 18" wheel that would match with other essential GM components that made up the cobalt and that 5x110 is very common for GM (Europe).
I will try to find a more official and defined answer for ya

omg i know. they can't make them in our bolt pattern because the wheels are manufactured in Japan and CAD designed for each bolt pattern for strength. if they change the bolt pattern it can adversely affect the strength and integrity of the wheel.

Stock SS S/C rim is 7" wide, widest tire I have heard of people using is 235 or 255 DR on a 16" wheel. Your 295 is way to wide.

^^^ fo sho it just sucks that I want lighter wheels if I was into "show" I would get either in a heartbeat.
EmperorJJ1 01-14-2007, 07:56 AM where were u able to find those foose dF5 in our offset? i was only able to find the d6
not alot of the wheels I post have a 42 offset, if you mean bolt pattern i found them here.
http://www.tiresdelivered.com/advancedSearch.php? page 3 of a cobalt SS search. They have a 34 offset.
EmperorJJ1 01-14-2007, 03:20 PM whoops bolt pattern is so close to offset (lol not really but ehh im tired)
damn 20s would look nice... if i had the cash right now id do it
20's would look great but can't find the foose's on a car but here's the rhines in 20's
http://www.mhtwheels.com/images/gallery/2003JAG-NI.jpg
xravenwingsx 01-14-2007, 09:09 PM what's the diff between 42 and 45 offset? does it make that much of a difference? stock is 42 on an ss/sc? sorry for the noobie question...but nobody's given me a direct answer anywhere else. :P
the diff is just that 3 mms since stock offset is 42 its considered zero offset for an SS S/C. Ideally you want a wheel with the same offset but sometimes not possible. 45 is considered a positive offset.
"Offset
The offset of a wheel is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true centerline of the rim. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This in effect brings the tire in to the fender well more. Conversely, a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle."
http://www.1010tires.com/images/WheelOffset-small.jpg
So with a rim the same width as stock 7", and a 45 offset, the wheel would be brought into the fender by 3 mms. Which is not much even for a 7.5 width wheel. When you get into 38 offset and 8.5 width wheels you can run into problems. hope this helps
denny 01-14-2007, 11:28 PM awesome thread Pete. What do you think of the American racing chrome Rogue 18 x 8.5 rims?
awesome thread Pete. What do you think of the American racing chrome Rogue 18 x 8.5 rims?
thanx man, i think they would look sweet. They have the stock wheel styling (fat 5 spoke) but they got a sweet dish on them. I personally think the black ones with the polished lip would look sick on ur car, but thats up too you.
Only thing I would look out for is the fitment 8.5 is pretty wide and with a 35 offset they would be stickin out a bit. Would look SICK with a wide aggressive stance but there might be issues with full wheel lock.
Smarty Art 01-16-2007, 06:37 PM What is the widest tire that will fit on our car? Comparing the tire width to the offset so that the tire doesn't stick past the fender and it doesn't hit the wheel well. Can we fit a 8" wide tire.
8" with 40 42 45 offset is def possible but I cannot confirm a 8.5" wheel. According to tirerack a 8.5" wheel will fit but then it comes down to the tire. Wish I knew more, hope this helps

You seem to be the resident wheel expert around here :) the 18" have a 8.5 but the 17" are 8 so i may just go with the 17". 225 or 235 /45ZR17 on there what do you think?
Your right the rims painted black with the polished lip do look sick...now I dont know anymore...

Im no expert but I am on a seemingly never-ending search for the perfect wheel...... honestly i wouldnt go past 8" width, BUT I would wait for 2fastforyouraSS and rick1217 to get their wheels and tires and see what he has to say on the subject. Nothing like first hand experience. If you can wait, i think thats the best way to do it. 17x8 would fit fo sho but they will look small. If you are ok with that and want to avoid any problems with rubbing 17's are a good way to go.
I would PM 2fastforyouraSS and rick1217 to see whats up. For the Tires.....
18x8.5 best fit = 235/40/18
17x8.0 best fit = 235/45/17 - 225/45/17 is a decent size smaller but you will def not have any rubbing issues.
M-Dub 01-16-2007, 07:37 PM Yeah, those HRE's are F'in sexy... if you have the coin get those!
Edubs 01-16-2007, 07:41 PM "17x8.0 best fit = 235/45/17"
That is my ideal setup right there. Nice sub 20lbs wheels with wide tires on them. Would be great for a better feel on the road...
I have yet to find a 17X8 wheel that suites my taste, though...

My friend gave me a giant 06 wheel guide and it was hit and miss finding the right bolt pattern (it didnt list them so i had to call each company) there is actually an ebay listing for these wheels but its 300 more then i paid at discount tire. my price was 170 a wheel

According to this site they fit. in my 2 year search for wheels there is also a large gap of info between the wheel, companies that sell it and even the manufactuer. i never post anything unless I have a site or manufactor thats says it will fit. Unfortunately, im sure there are some wheels that don't but I'm just trying to help.

Edubs 02-19-2007, 04:20 PM The only reason I can see why this isn't a sticky is because there is no order to this thread. It's a great idea and I thank p7x(I'm pretty sure you started it), but there are repeats, not enough information and red X's everywhere. If this thread were cleaned up, and had organized pictures with full info for each wheel, it would be worth a sticky...

IMO you answered your own question. If you can't afford it don't buy it. Save in small ammount over time and you can buy them cash. It just may take awhile. I always save for everything and buy with cash, I don't even own a credit card. Thats just going to get you in trouble if you want everything right now and can't afford everything right now. Good luck man, those wheels will look hot on a rally yellow cobalt. When you get them post some pics. :twothumbs and ^ wheels look pretty good. Would be nice with 2 or less spoked though.
EmperorJJ1 03-06-2007, 08:07 AM i agree dont buy what you cant afford... then again i do sometimes buy using credit wisely which i would recommend but 95% of people dont use it wisely... and honestly a large purchase isnt a good way to start
i was very fortunate to use credit wisely and was able to finance my car under my own name at the age of 19... since ive been able to accomplish that ive slowed my credit usage to basiclly nill (even took them out of my wallet so i wont lose them)
picmahweji 03-06-2007, 04:32 PM ya i feel u on that...but then again im probably one of the wiser ones. im 20 years ol with a cc limit o 6500 so im not doing too bad....cobalts almost paid off and last time i used les scwab i paid off 1g of rims in 8 months...but hmm now that ive seen those kyowas those look good too

Those are Motegi Touge's. They are designed for drift cars, as the "Touge" implies. Drift cars= RWD. Cobalts= FWD. Which ultimately means, no Motegi Touge's for Cobalts.
loco-performance 03-25-2007, 03:38 PM k question... i want to buy nice looking rims but without buying new rubber. What rims would fit the ss/sc and fit the stock tires at the same time?

any wheels that are 18" with a width less then 8" and have a 5x110 bolt pattern. IMO i would drive the car until the stock rubber is done and than get wheels and rubber together. The perillis are not that great and there is a ton of better rubber out there for less, hope this helps

above what picture? in your post you just showed the Touge. And the Touge is a RWD wheel.......Tanner Foust uses it on his AEM Drift 350Z, just for an example. And google "Touge" and see all the drift racing stuff you come up with. Touge's are twisty back road courses that go down mountains, where drifters did their "grassroots" racing before it blew up and came overseas. Sure, you could use it as a FWD wheel, but I could also put a lift kit on my car and throw on some 30"s and consider my 'balt a "Donk". Just b/c you can, dosen't mean you should.
EmperorJJ1 03-30-2007, 01:20 PM i think hes talking about the original post where boost quoted R&C... and if someone makes a cobalt into a donk i will personally shoot them and flaten their tires (not like you would notice but still)
