Question : 1/4 mile vs. trap time
I have a small quick question... I see people going through the 1/4 mile in 14.0 - 14.3 and trapping at 97-98 mph, so my question is why is it that i trap at 101-102mph and only get a 14.6?? thanks guys
And a bit off topic, i never rev before taking off, do you think it would help me get off the line quicker? thanks again
what track is that?
napierville has lots of problem with stupid speed readings these days
look at this: Eclipse GT with CAI
runs:
15.278 @ 122.038
15.048 @ 96.296
15.003 @ 123.003
15.198 @ 97.493
14.888 @ 99.735
14.636 @ 121.774
14.793 @ 98.262
a 20mph variation in trap speeds and 120mph with a 15.2 E.T.? I think not!

here are the time slips last time i went:
Cobalt SS/SC
run 1 : 1/4 = 15.083 @ 101.98(lots of wheel hop that time) 60 feet = 2.657
run 2 : 1/4 = 14.623 @ 101.757 60 feet = 2.404
Cobalt LS
run 1 : 1/4 = 16.364 @ 87.557 60 feet = 2.646
run 2 : 1/4 = 16.511 @ 86.099 60 feet = 2.701
Anyways, just saying that it is always consistent
Check it out man, I traped at 108 before and ran a 13.7 then later I trapped at 107 and ran a 13.6. I got off the line much quicker though, remember its not about how fast you pass the line. Its how fast you get to that line. Its measured by how much time it take you to cover a distance.
I don't know why either, but when you do hook, you tend to trap lower..not by much but it will be noticeable
Yea, I mean think about it. Take two toy cars and race them down a line. One in your left and, one in your right hand. The car in the right lane could be spinning the tires and not getting off the line as fast as the car in the left lane. So it appears the car in the left lane is faster. Finally half way down the track the car gains traction and begins to pull very hard on the car on the left. To bad he runs out of track to catch him but traps higher. This is because the car in the right lane was going faster when he passed the 1.4th mile line. But the car in the left still had a better E/T with a lower mph because he passed the line first. That should make sense to you.
next pass you trap 101mph with a 1.9
what happened.
you spun less, you got traction. guess i shouldn't have worded it like that the first time. it's simple. keeping the exact same power you have now. your mph will drop because you are spinning. you stop spinning, or rip off a 1.5 60ft. you're mph will drop like a rock. along with your et.
i trapped 103 in my car on the DD tune.
i had a gsx that trapped 103. and went 12.74. the ss/sc went 13.70
1.60 60ft in the gsx, vs 2.0 in the ss/sc.
