In need of help.

About two weeks ago my check engine light turned on so I took it to Auto Zone just to see what the CEL was. It said that my car was running too lean and that there was a problem with the MAF sensor. I got a print out of that and took it to the service department so they could take a look at it.
Later on that day I picked it up and read the Invoice to see what they had done to fix it. The service guys cleaned my injectors and gave it a fuel system cleaner. I drove to work but I noticed that it smelled gas. Later on, when I was driving home the check engine light went off again but the car was running really weird. There were a lot of vibrations and it wasn't accelerating normally.
I took it back and they said one of my lines was not plugged in right. I drove off with it and after a few minutes I noticed the smell of gas only this time the car was vibrating more than last time and my gas meter went from half a tank to a little less than a quarter tank with in five minutes.
Once again I took it back and this time they said that my ECU needed to be reprogrammed. I left it over night so they can work on it. Well yesterday morning I picked it up and they car immediately felt weird. It struggled to turn on and while Idling my rpms dip down to 700 for a few seconds. Now, my car usually does that but not frequently, like once a month. It was doing this every time I would idol. My rpms also drop quickly in between shifts.

With all that said, does anyone know what’s going on with my car or have experienced something similar? I'm kind of nervous about taking it back to them. I mean considering it was running fine the first time the check engine light turned on, it’s now the opposite. I was going to take the car back yesterday but I can't really be with out a vehicle over the weekend since I have to work.

Not sure what the fuel problem is...almost sounds like you're dumping WAY too much gas somehow. I would take it to a different shop next time. Still have all your invoices? I'd take them in as a record of what your current shop has tried.

Yeah I still have them. How does the warranty work? Do you have to go to the same dealership as were you bought the car?

you can take it to any Gm dealer. you can take it to any mechanic you like, but its safer to take it to gm cause then they cant blame the problem on a different mechanics work and say its not warranty.

Not 100% sure on that--might wanna check with GM on that one--I always do since I'm familiar with the staff and they treat me well--and if they mess something up, they always fix it for free (for me, anyway--no guarantees your dealership will be as nice to you)--I'd say as long as it's a GM dealer with certified techs, you should be alright. Shop around though--I live in UT, and was on a trip for my job in Texas, and the dealer there wanted to void my warranty for just a stupid Progress anti-roll bar install. Needless to say, I just waited until I got back to UT to have it installed.

EDIT: hehe tkaugh29 beat me to it. :P

I don't want to be an ass with the service guys because I know they really don't get much experience with SS\SCs down here on account of their only being 4 in a 60 mile radious. I think I'm just going to keep taking it to them until they get it right. I don't want any problems with my warranty. Thanks guys and +1 rep to you both.

when i got my gmpp exhaust put on i let the dealer i bought the car from do it, but they fucked it up, so i took it to another gm dealer and said "the dealer i took it to first screwed it up can you re-intstall it for me?" and they fiexed it for me, ZERO charge... so im positive you can take it to any GM dealer, why couldnt you? its not like one Gm dealer has a differnt warranty then the other...

sounds to me like you're leaking fuel from your fuel system somewhere and it's causing the pressure to drop low... making you run bad. Take it back where you had the work done. They messed it up... they should fix it. For no charge. If it didn't run that way when you took it there then they caused the problem. If you don't trust that the techs at your shop are competent, take it to a different dealer. gm is gm.
