Louder Exhaust & Bogged Out

What's up ma peeps. lol...I need some ideas here.

I have been getting a P0455 Emmissions code on and off for about two weeks now. Last night I got on her a bit to eat up a Golf, Civic and a local SS/SC, and when banging her into 4th she fell on her face, so I immediatly let out and put her in neutral. The exhaust sounds louder and the tone has changed a bit. It's still coming out the rear, so it's not a leak from underneath.

My question is...What could cause her to feel hesitant from a dead stop, and higher RPM's as well as cause the exhaust note to change and become louder? Could it be my cat?? I think I've narrowed it down to either the cat or maybe a fuel issue. Any and all input is welcomed. Thanks ahead of time guys/gals....

Come on peoples...No one has any ideas?

Bump again..

Damn, are all my tech peeps sleeping still or what? lol

i bet it's the cat. that code has more to do with fumes than actual gas. but it means that there is a leak somewhere. i would check all your hoses and lines, and the cat. guaranteed to be one of them. and depending on where the leak is, that would make the louder sound. i know you said there's no leak, but that code means there IS a leak, somewhere. just maybe not in the actual exhaust.

Thanks guys, yeah I kinda figured it might be a bad kitty. I had heard that, that code can come on because of a loose gas cap as well, which didn't even out too well cause it came on ALOT. lol

I would say the kitty got blown. Depending of how much the tone changed and how much louder it got, you may have actually cracked the honey cone or blown part of it out of your exhaust.

Ya'll think I have anything to worry about with any of that debris going into the motor? The tone isn't as deep, but still not raspy at all. Just vibrates everything now. Hence the cat-back being called Vibrant.

well, since your exhaust flows AWAY from the motor, i would think it would be ok. unless debris can go backwards against airflow, jump that 2 feet up the bend in teh downpipe, then climb through the manifold i'd say you're ok.

There is still backpressure. The reason I asked the question that I did, was because I don't have full exhaust. So, when I let off the throttle or downshift, there is still a decent amount of backpressure. STOP YELLING AT ME!!!

Oh yeah, and aparently she's throwing a P0097 now, which pertains to my IAT's. So yeah, I have to get her to my performance shop guru and have him check her out for me.

Has your boost level gone up or down? If it went up, clogged most likely. If it went down, blew the cat out. Just a guess since there are a few other things it might be, but the cat is the most likely.

Wish I knew, I took the boost gauge out to put the interceptor in.

She feels a bit sluggish when i tromp on it from a stop, takes a bit to fluently build boost from how it feels.

Not going cat-less in Jersey. If it is the cat, I will be going with an aftermarket DP for sure though. Not going to replace it with another factory one. I need to find out why she's throwing an IAT code now though.

Andy, mine just died as well. Drastic loss of power all over the RPM range.

I noticed my exhaust got drastically deeper, and when I would lay on the gas it would get hella loud. Ended up pinning the boost gauge and my car literally died at 3k rpms. I was hitting the gas and my RPM's weren't even moving but the boost gauge was. CEL started flashing so I took it in ASAP. Ended up being a short in cyl#4 injector harness causing misfires and raw fuel dumping straight into the exhaust which ruined my cat. $659.85 to fix, thank god for factory warranty.

Now I got it back last night and it's hella loud. Maybe I got used to driving everyones quiet car around so im like wtf. From the inside, it sounds way louder. Outside, it's exactly the same.

I just called you, guess your busy at work. You can text me if ya got any more questions.

Oh word...Yeah, no flashing codes as of yet, but she also threw another code which Matt said pertains to my IAT sensor of some sort. He said to be easy on her and bring her down to the shop. Gonna have to wait till tom. though cause my budget doesn't give me enough gas to get down there and back. lol
