need tire opinions

well driving home from the st.louis astros game yesterday i hit a piece of metal and blew the tire out so im wanting to get a new set of 4 tires that are a little better then the peralli pzeros that come stock i have called dobbs and walmart .. walmart cant get stock tire size of 215/45/18 but they can get 215/40/18..

dobbs can get the pzeros in for 214.50 installed

walmarts tire for the 215/40/18 is bfgoodwrench g force t/a for 165 a tire

im wanting a better tire for my cobalt that is stock peformance no addons to power

later on im wanting to do stg 2

so i was thinking about getting new tires these have 22000 miles + and there wear pattern sucks *****

any ideas on tires and sizes that will not throw off the ODO will be appreciated

im getting these mom just ordered them i think they will be ok

215 / 40 / r18

There have been a few tire threads lately with lots of good opinions.

I jumped in here cause you should be getting 225/40-18 because they are closer to stock size. The 225/40 are about 1/2" shorter than stock, and a little wider. The 215/40 will be almost 7/8 shorter and the same width as stock.
The 215/40 will make your speedometer around 3% off, not a big deal.

215-40-18 will throw you ODO quite a bit. 235-40-18 is pretty near the same on the ODO, but some are hving probs with rubbing, some no. I would recommend 225-40-18 as far as tire size. Good tires are BFG KDW, Falken 615 or 452, toyo T1R. High end are the Michelin Pilot sport and Goodyear GSD1. I got the BFG KDW and its a great tire, and looks awesome! Good luck with ure tires!!

nah man, 215 40 will throw the ODO like 7% or more. I get like 3% with the 225.

Dont go 215 40 IMO..... no no no

If you do the math the 215/40 is about 3.4% smaller. 225/40 is about 2% smaller.
That is not always accurate because no tire is exactly the size it is marked, and different companies vary even with the same size.

I have been running Falken ZE-512's wonderful in bad weather ie: snow, rain, ice whatever! Plus they grip just as good as the Pirellis did!

nitto neo-gens ftw. also toyo proxies are good but VERY pricey. Falkens make a nice tire as does hankook.
