Yes my car used to whistle under hard acceleration at around 5k rpms or so. Now it just makes this loud spooling sound. I may need to take it in....

catalytic converter is my best guess. that whistle noise happens when it gets clogged. my guess is somewhere down the road you'll get an CEL. does this happen like as soon as you hit the throttle and go into high RPMS, and just AT high rpms?

It's not CAT unless mine was clogged from the factory. Mine was much more noticed after K&N filter was installed. Not really sure what it is. It's not a bad thing.

i don't think I've ever herd a naturally aspirated engine "whistle" before. i just know thats a common problem with the 2.0's, cats clogging.

lol. The whistle sound from the intake is normal on our cars. But what i was joking about is that the turbo spool is so loud i cant hear the whistle anymore. Thanks for the input tho

I had a whistle sound i thought it was the brakes at first but after really listning it was air on the door mirrors. Theres a gap in them and when its windy and i get going a certain speed it makes a whistl noise. dont know if this is what you hear though.lol

When i race my friends they all ask me if my car is turbo charged. Mine whistles around 3.5k and up. I think it sounds sweet, as do all my friends.

Mine whistles under normal acceleration at all speeds around 1500 - 3200 RPM, very annoying.

I didnt have a muffler on and it still did it. I had an CAI which also increased the sound. I had even raced my buddy before i was turbo'ed and he said from outside it sounded almost like a turbo it was so loud. I think its just a sweet noise our engines make N/A while under acceleration.

its the stock muffler that made the noise i think and just a question whats a cai ive heard it but notpossitive what it is

ok got it i think i know what the noise is our ecotecs the L61's and lts have that EGC vaulve and i think thats what it is i hear it on mine now and i have intake on my car also and it is very noisy and cool sounden but our motors are like the i-vtech motors in the hondas but american made so its the tec part spoolin out i think haha

Whistling....

Mine whistles too, I modified the stock airbox, put on a 60 degree joint and then put on my spectre down in the wheel well, whistles too, sounds more like a ricer now though, miss my short-ram sound but I still get to wave at all the people I dust

yeah like i said i think its the EGC valve and our engines are set up to run like the v tech motors in hondas and all that i am pretty sure thats what that noise is from

oddly enough i get this weird sound similar to a bov. only happens during gear shifts and it's pretty bad as. it's even cooler with the bottle cause you'd swear i had a turbo if you didn't know.

yes, it is because the 2.2 is DOHC and is considered an interference motor, and DOHC's make that "whistle" sound...just like the v-tec
