Yeah the sound might be the resonator cause I had the sound and after I took my resonator off it went away

watch/listen to my vid, you can clearly hear the noise you all speak of. Its a good noise in my book.....

P.S. This is with just the air box mod and a good filter, and of course magnaflow exhaust.

yeah mine doesnt do it any more now all i get is a whining noise but thats just the motors tec kickin in but its got to be the resonator or the EGC valve but i cant figure out why mine doesnt do it anymore im so confused becuase since i modified my exhaust and took out the resonator pipe i never heard that noise again it drives me nuts

Uhm... motors tec? I hope your not refering to v-tec like hondas have. Thats Variable Valve Timing or VVT, which the LE5 2.4 engine has. Not the L61.

Ok my 2.2L does the whistle as well from about 5k up, under mid-hard acceleration.... a little more pronounced with my GMPP CAI. I have lots of friends with 2.2/ 2.4 and 2.0's but I'm the only one making this sound. BTW: mines a 2007.
It hasn't brought me any trouble, but I can't seem to nail down what it is either :S

I've noticed that my car makes a whistle at partial throttle no matter what rpm or speed I'm at, I only noticed after I cleande my throttle body though. It might have something to do with the fact that I removed all the black gunk around the throtle plate. Maybe thats why it whistles now??

that could be very true as redbasebolt put it it could be build up of gunk in the throttle body but as soon as i took my stock muffler and resonator off it went straight away mnostly and then when i topped my car out it stopped completely now all i hear is the motor whining at me when i hit er

I haven't really noticed any whistling noise with my 2.2.

Mines an 07' LT2 with GMPP Sport exhaust and the 2.2 airbox mod.

wtf? ive owned several dohc motor vehicles. the cobalt is the one and only that made this whistle noise, which i believe is from the intake and the resonator is unable to quiet and thats why people notice the noise more after installing a different intake.

and have you ever driven or been in a honda with vtec? vtec doesnt make a noise, you get a different exhaust tone, and if you have an intake on it, you get a loud pitch from it. ive driven an integra gsr which i helped work on including a vtec controller. ive also been in several civic si, a turbo integra type r, and a civic with a b20 bottom end and b16 head thats n/a

I cant believe some of you guys dont like the whistle. It sounds sweet. Not ricey at all. Most cars with a CAI will wistle. My buddys 04 F-150 has a sri and it whistles nice and loud.

yea...my 2.2 whistles too and i think it is the way the car was designed...i know they didnt say "hey lets make the 2.2's whistle since the supercharged ones whine" but the way it was built and put together is what i mean and mine does it around 3,500 and up
