Cold is coming, Gas Milage is increasing!

So with my KN SRI Intake i noticed that in hot tempts my litres pre 100 kms where lower (around 10-11) but ive noticed since winter is creeping up and its getting colder here in winnipeg that my litres/100KM has increased..today i found it at 13.9!! and i was driving normal (not WOT lol) so i think in another week im going to be taking my SRI intake off and replacing stock for the winter

anyone else have this problem with CAI/SRI intakes??

I think how it works is a SRI tries to pull more cold air into the engine..decrease milage when its cold out side..where CAI works differnet..increasing milage in colder weather

see thats funny cause i'm stock and mine goes down in the winter, but it could also be because i have to drive to school in heavy traffic every day where in the summer im just cruising everywhere. summer= 28MPG winter=24.5MPG

Miles Per Gallon goes down in the winter, but liters per 100 km goes up. All the same.

It's caused by the fuel atomisation is decreased because the fuel temp is cold.

as crazy as this is i know my car is ball faster during winter.. nd i hava 2.2l...with a cai... my main reason to actualy believe this is that because it cold air molcules are closer together so im getting more oxygen in the engine ... its not a huge huge difference but it enough to notice it..

Apperently i was told tho that these SRI try to suck up alot more air and by doing so ur adding alot colder air into the engine causing the gas thing making my litres go way up..isnt that how it works?

short ram is closer to the engine and less efficent .. you bet better flow to the engine.."ie less resistance" but your sucking in more warmer air.. thus ur running temp will be higher.. it actualy might be best if you keep it on during winter because youll get more warm air form the engine.. just an idea..

full cold air intake works better because you getting direct cold air off the air dam so it actualy going to get better power gains... if you would like i could show your the iat on my car b4 and after the short ram and going full cold.. its a huge difference... short ram ran about 10degrees warmer then outside temp and full cold air runs about 3 degrees difference

See i dont know, the SRI says gains of 16 (but i dont go by gains companies produce) i always thought for a NA engine temp doesnt play a huge gain, so a SRI intake would work better for Hp gains, considering ur getting more air into your engine.

Ill try it on for winter and see how it works...your theory does make perfect sense tho +Rep

i can data log and show you that intake temp has alot to do with na engines... you would be suprised with what parts effect everything... think about it... warmer intake temps lead to more heat in the cylinder leading to high radiator temps.. everything effects everything... your not nessacerly getting more air in the engine with a sri then a full cold air.. if you decided to get a ram air hood then your actualy getting the best of all worlds... but for now your sri is more like a hot air intake... it makes a difference... but then again idk if that heat shield that comes with the k&n actualy make a difference..

kinda has alot to do with how nitrous works...

haha im sure it doesnt, at the track..i poped my hood and the intake itself was hot..

but i do have a plan to get a ram air hood..any you would suggest that are functional?
