Question Injen SRI problems

I have the Saturns verison of the Cobalt SS/NSC. I installed the Injen SRI for the 05 Cobalt 2.2L on my 06 Saturn Ion 3 2.4L. Right after I installed it the auto transmission started shifting hard in all gears and its is also throwing codes for bad idleing and runing too lean. I did reset the ECM after installing it. I also put the stock parts back in and run a few days on that and rest the ecm . It ran fine. Then I put the intake back in and it ran fine for about 30 miles and starts actting up again. Any ideas?

Did you take the air sensor out of the original intake tube and put it into the Injen one?

I'd say check all your wires and make sure something isn't loose shorting out. I haven't had a single problem with mine so far. Sorry I can't be of more help....

maybe try removing the negative battery terminal and letting it sit for 30 mins or so.... then hook it back up....

I tryed with and without unhooking the power to reset it. I have talked to so many people and know one has a clue to why its doing the hard shifting. I think it is just the MAF sensor not liking the intake. I also think it may be becuse I have not have the intake held down well and it moving too much??

There is no Saturn version of the 2.4L SS. Okay you have then engine but none of the suspension or brakes. Not quite the same but I guess in a stright line it would be. Okay I'll stop nitpicking

Check your RPO lable in your car---I am curious what this sport tuned suspension is.

A 2.4L SS has FE3 and the 17's of course (disc/discs).

So look for FE3. If you don't find it--the suspension RPO still starts with an F

It does has 16" tires that are Firehawk GTA with suck so much it hurts. It does have disk/drum. So it guess its the cheap version on the Cobalt SS. I should of just got the Redline.

The Cobalt SS/SC people are having issues throwing codes with a lot of the intakes on their cars. Ensure you use the screws and attachment hardware that came with the new intake and don't reuse the old stuff. If there's any leaks or incorrectly fit parts it'll mess everything up.

Angry

Well I give up on the Injen intake, its back to stock now. The only reason I did the intake was becuse Saturn part dept. told me that they had no stock of the stock air filter and the 2005 filter did not fit. Which I know now that was not ture. I plan to get a K&N drop in. Saturn wanted $22 for the stock filter when a K&N is only $40 and it can be washed and reused.

mines all homemade with wire holding the MAF in place and duct tape (temporarily around it on a custom cutout on my pipe. IT is pretty sweet for now, and no codes.

Actually you do get the 2.4L and a sport tuned suspension, upgraded brakes and a better looking car but I'll stop nitpicking

There was one guy who went ahead and installed the same Injen CAI on his 2.2L and it threw codes as well but had none of your tranny problems. I think it has something to do with the maf. His was throwing some maf code and I don't think he ever fixed it.

There is actually an Ion specific intake for the 2.2L and it is a different model number than the Cobalt. It is model number SP4010P.

Maybe you would have better luck with that one on your 2.4L...

We can order that part number in for you. It would take about 3 weeks (special order). It would be 219.99 + ship.
Email us if interested.

I drove a total of about 200 miles on it.
It is a Gray 4 door.
I looked hard to find a Saturn SRI/CAI and nerver find one, I have the intake on ebay now its the black one. I would trade for the Saturn verison if anyone wants. If I can sell the old one I may get the Saturn one.
