Driving in Ecstasy, the Chevy Cobalt

Fun Writing About my Cobalt SS/SC:
I fell in love with my 2006 cobalt SS supercharged the first moment we met. Never will I forget the beautiful curves in the evening sunset. From bumper to bumper the body was flawless. It was my first brand new car I purchased. With plenty of buying insentives I could not pass up the rally yellow sports car. With a hard earned down payment of $1,000.00 dollars just to drop the monthly payments down a notch and a 0% loan I could not go wrong. How often does anyone in today's day and age let you barrow money for free!?!? It finally payed off staying at the same job. Worked for a company well known across the world named Sherwin Williams. A very good location in which all of the North Eastern U.S. counts on us to receive and ship all of Sherwin Williams customers including Walmart, Sears, K-mart, and Duron.

Of course the car was exactly what I wanted but passion can get the best of us. It was time to add modifactions and "go fast goodies". I finally came to the point where my stock clutch could not handle the hard launches at the track and I burned it up. It was the first time my precious machine and I were seperated. My passion would have to sit in the garage for nearly six weeks. It was dreadful not being able to sit in that driver's seat on those summer nights. After problems installing the parts on a weekend with friends it seemed like I would have to wait another eternity unitl my machine and I were reunited. The next weekend it was finally time to get the project done.

It was a very cool morning and my eyes heavy from all of the work the night before. As I removed the last jackstand underneath the car and Jeff lowered the floor jack my heart began to skip a beat. My nerves and adrenaline began to pump because it was time to turn the key. Everyone who ever has been in the same situation knows how it is when it's time to turn that key. It has been nearly seven weeks since I heard the scream of the supercharger and the purr of the gm performance touring exhaust. I turned the key and the little cobalt that could, roared to life. The clutch pedal nice and stiff, and the brand new exedy clutch ready to break in waited patiently on my first maneuver. After lifting the reverse lockout on the B&M short throw shifter I pushed back and like smooth silk slipped right into reverse. Slowly I backed the car out of the garage as everyone cheered! With the most cautious attempt to shift into first gear again the transmission shifted into the gear perfectly. The drivetrain felt very strong and knowing the stage II driveshop axles could hold well more then the engine puts out was pure delight!

I drove around the garage and shifted back and forth from first to second. Everything was perfectly put back together and it was once again time to enjoy my new found Cobalt SS supercharged! It's good to be back in the driver's seat, and I really understand and appreciate how much time and energy it takes to be a true sports car enthusiast. The imagination runs wild knowing this is just the beginning of the adventrue.

Short Version:
So, after countless days waiting for my clutch and other parts I finally finished installing some of the mods. I just realized how lucky I am to be cruising around in my SS/SC. For once I drove the car very nice and not as agreesive as I used to. Just took some back roads and enjoyed the car. All of us have things to be proud of and I'm not bragging. Its just a real good feeling to back back in the driver's seat. After all the time and money I'm still no where close to where I want to be but now I have alot more appreation for my car. Just had to share my feelings of ecstasy! It does pay off to work hard and save money for something you really want. This thread should be the offical place to post the posative feelings about driving a cobalt!

I have a 2 hour drive from work to my house in a work truck. All I can think about while sitting in traffic is hearing that supercharger screaming.

Ecstasy my be a bit much, but how about I take a little shot.

There's a cold nip in the air this morning, 46 degrees not too humid. The garage door opens and I see her staring at me, lights flash with recognition. I start her up and you can hear a low purr as she warms up. I sip my coffee.

With the clutch engaged I slide into first and proceed up the driveway. The neighborhood is quite this morning and we slip away. Driving through small town USA children ride their bikes to school, one decides to race me, we both lean forward and he manages to beat me. He basks in his victory at the corner and I give him a thumbs up and we make our way to the hiway entrance.

I put her in second and make the right hand turn onto the onramp, her supercharger eager to ingest that cool dense air. I look down and wait for her to climb to 3k rmps and then……..WOT down that ˝ mile ramp. 40,…50,…you can hear the supercharger enjoying that air……60…..15psi on the gage……70……16 psi….., shift to third, foot off the gas quick 4th and 5th and cruise to 75. All alone in the country and 20 miles till you reach the city limits, makes for a nice way to start the morning.

^^ Not bad! All except for the typos... I'll have to give a shot at this when I'm at home tonight.

Road trip to Tenessee it by far the greatest trip I've taken in a 'balt. Especially when we went down to Florida before coming back home.
