Got to hear the Sport system on a car this morning.

From inside the car the system is a bit louder than stock but sounds good. Never caused any kind of resonance in the cabin. This system will be very easy to live with day to day. When cruising the system is virtually silent.

From outside it's a whole different beast. Running WOT the system sounds a lot like Corsa's V8 systems just not quite as deep. And believe me it is loud! Under deceleration the system gargles a bit with a few small pops. But never became Civic like. Again sounded somewhat like Corsa's V8 system just not as deep.

The system is a 2.5", completely stainless, and comes with a 4" tip similar in shape to the stock tip but filling the opening in the rear facia much better.

The Sport system is priced at $775.99...omewhat expensive. But, it is all stainless and comes with a zero restriction muffler that was custom tuned to the Cobalt's acoustics and is not packed full of **** like other performance mufflers.

Mine will be on order by days end and should be on sometime early next week. I'll post some videos so you guys can hear it.

Isn't the GM system by Corsa? I always thought it was Borla but many here said Corsa.

The GM systems are priced better than directly from Corsa, the touring is like $650 and the Sport is around $560. Those prices are retail also not list.

Was the custom exhaust just as good as the expensive one?

To each their own. But, I have personally seen Corsa's entire development and manufacturing process. Each system is specifically designed for the intended application. They have been known to put months of development into a single system and scrap the whole thing because it does not sound right. They have several acoustical engineers from Cleveland's NASA Research center on payroll to engineer their RSC mufflers. You will not find one ounce of fiberglass packing in Corsa's mufflers. Matter of fact they use "glass pack" mufflers to determine what frequencies thier mufflers must cancel. If you don't know what RSC is check out their website at www.corsaperf.com. Each component they manufacture is fabricated with minimal automation and is dimensionally checked in a fixture only used to check that specific component. In the center of their shop is a cinder block room called hell. Inside humans hand polish each component that requires a durable mirror like finish. Corsa does not use plating on any of thier components! The end result is a high quality deliverable that sounds awesome.

I should be getting my install time scheduled tomorrow. I'll get performance figures, they told me but I honestly don't remember the exact numbers. Corsa uses Lingenfelter to do all their dyno validation so you can be sure it's accurate.

Also, I had a nice conversation with their director of engineering about a 3 inch system vs 2.5 inch. According to him the only thing you gain by going 3 inch is extra mass. Next years Cobalt Cup Car system will be going from 3 inch to 2.5 inch.

edit: you will not find any Cobalt info on their website, the system literally went into production this week.

My buddy has a Corsa catback on his LS1 z28, I was very impressed w/ the quality, install and most of all the sound. It wasn't ungodly loud, it sounded very nice, deep and smooth. If the catback for the Cobalt has similar aspects, I might go w/ that instead of Borla....I want this car to be as quiet as possible w/ the best possible gains lol.

If it makes power, plus keeps my little 2.0 sounding nice not rice it may indeed be worth $700 but I will be going with the GM ones due to the fact that my cost for either is under $550.
