Back to the track, did better but I still suck

Well, went back to the track. I got 18 passes in, I actually could have done more but I stopped a few times. There was only like 20 cars there tops. I discovered if I hot lapped the car more than 5 times, on the big end of the track it would pop and carry on. I guess heat soaking it. I stopped and let it sit for about 10 minutes and it was fine again. So I limited my hot lapping to 3 passes and then a 15 minute break.

I had a few seriously bad runs, mainly up against 10 second cars. I got to run my dads Chevelle which pulls mega wheel stands and pulls 10.15's all day long. I discovered something, when I run a car like that and can't hear my engine, I do way worse. I spin like hell or bog the engine. I'm driving by the sound of the motor and thats killing me when I can't hear it.

Now I improved my 60ft time a little. My best was 2.258. That knocked my ET down to 14.220. Not bad, but definitely not what I want. I'm seriously inconsistent also. I'll run a 2.4 60ft then pop a 2.6, then a 2.3. I'm all over the place. Its terrible! I had fun though, I figure with the rate I'm improving I'll be in the 13's by Christmas time

Most of the cars I got to run were seriously bad ass. 12.0 second Evo (there was 4 of them, he was the slow one), a 12 second KA24DE-T 240SX (a 418whp KA24!!!!), a 12 second turbo 350Z, and a 11 second Lightning. I did have a killer run with a Saleen Mustang. We were neck and neck down the track. He drove as bad as me. I had him on the tree and at the 60ft. He had me by .02 at the 1/8th. Then when we crossed the line he ran a 14.44 @ 100 and I ran a 14.45 @102. So close!!

I'm gonna take out my amp, sub and 2nd battery this weekend and put it all in my blazer. i'm gonna see if getting rid of that extra weight helps. I figure it will help with the weight transfer some, hopefully giving me better traction. also losing that 150lbs should drop me another 10th of a second. I'll find out Saturday night.

Nice runs! Getting a new personal best is always cool. I'm not sure what a good 60' time is for FWD, but that's where you'll pick up some time at the end [/Captain Obvious]

I've seen stock Stangs run 13's to 15's - it all depends on the driver. The new S197's (2005-2008) are heat pumps, so we gotta let them cool down between runs. The Shelby's (GT500 & Shelby GT) are the same way. A good driver can put a GT500 into the 12's, but alot of new owners will run 13's or 14's and think their car has a problem (driver mod FTW!).

The one comment you made is the best - you had a fun time, and that's what it is all about.

Trust me Gainesville isnt always that dead, Last time I went I only got 5 runs. I guess the possibility of bad weather scared many off. Atleast your track is closer to you, Gainesville is out in the boonies Not too far from Ozzy though

How the hell did you get that many runs? I could only get 3 in 3 hours last time I went. The best I could pull was a 14.4 @ 100 I coudnt get enough runs in to perfect my launch. That was with a clogged cat and a broken flex pipe so we will see what happens next time w/ my 2.8 and 60's

Man they were hot lapping the hell out of us. There were only like 10 Open Comp cars and maybe 15 test and tune cars. Everytime I made a pass and got back in the lanes they would flag me right out to stage. I got in 18 runs and I stopped several times to let the car cool off and chat with a few other guys. I'm going back out there tonight, its T&T and Open Comp again. My dad told me most of the real drag cars will be up in Valdosta for a big race up there so turn out will be minimal again tonight.

You know what? You cursed me! I got to hot lap quite a few times tonight and she started slipping on me. It seems to be ok now that it has cooled off. No more hot laps for the balt! I did get in 16 passes tonight also. I also got admitted into the 100mph club too. Only took 4 weeks of 100+ mph passes for them to give me that honor.

I don't know what time you left Ranger but I managed to pull a few 14.0's then about 10:30 I finally popped off with a 13.941 @ 105.78mph. With a 2.305 60ft. I'm still having serious traction issues. I need to get some drag radials or something.

Best I could pull was a 14.2 at 102 w/ a 2.2. The last run I thought my clutch was gone for sure. But we will see what happens next time I go w/ my pulley.
