k... im about to have these stock 16inch wheels put on but ran into another problem before i do that. i was looking for different lugs, every place i call wants to see one of these lugs because the cobalt isnt in their book or system. can anyone tell me what to tell them what they are looking for?

this is my only car and dont think it would be safe to drive 30 miles away with only 3 lugs on one tire damn it lol

I think you mean lug bolts or lug nuts? Cuz i broke one lug bolt (lug stud) off each front wheel and to be honest w/ you i actully drove it too. I had to. no other choice. But it was fine. but otherwise id say call your local dealer and ask the parts department there.

If that is the case you should have the dealer enter the new tire size into the cars computer. Not just for the accuracy of the speedo but other powertrain paramaters as well.

They want the thread pitch for the lugs.

Tell them you need a 12x1.5mm.

For sure.

and ya once again my lug stud broke today when taking off my rims. this is the 3rd time a lug stud broke. GM deffintly should of had a 5 bolt pattern for all cobalts and not just the SS. But any who for those who did get there bolt studs fixed how much does it cost? Cuz im going down to town fair tire tomorrow to get a new rim and 2 snow tires for my car. and just curious if it would be worth it getting fixed at my dealer or just spending the money and have them fix it. dealer takes a full day w my car to fix .

thanks and ur input is greatly appreciated.

You absolutely should not put only 2 snow tires on a vehicle, fyi.

just curious but why not? i was under the impression that you only need them for the wheels that have the power. in our case our front wheels. but please explain yourself so i dont waste my money on 2 that wont do anything. thanks man.

Edit: i did some research thanks man lol. here it is

"As many as you have wheels on your car. For most people, this is four. If you put only two snow tire on your car, one end of the car will have better traction than the other. This applies both on dry and snow covered roads. In the snow, the snow tires will have better traction. In the dry, the regular tires will have better traction.

The difference in traction means that when you brake, turn, or accelerate, the two ends of the car will want to behave differently. If the back end has worse traction, you will spin. If the front end has worse traction, you will keep going straight, even while trying to brake. Neither is really a nice thing to have happen in a panic situation."
