View Full Version : Rebel Auto Worx 3" CAI
IR0NS1N 11-12-2007, 11:24 PM I was wondering if anyone has had had any CEL problems yet? Also is the Vibrant 3" Filter an oil or dry filter? Kind of a stupid question but is there much of a difference over stock size to 3"?
Sounds pretty sweet but was wondering if it was better then the injen CAI?
bump before bed
Therr is hand full guys down here in canada that run all year then no proablems some got dryflow and oil base . they work great and no codes
Tech@RebelAutoWorxs 11-13-2007, 05:02 PM Therr is hand full guys down here in canada that run all year then no proablems some got dryflow and oil base . they work great and no codes
Translation:There is a handfull of guys here in Canada that run the Rebel Auto Worxs 3" intake all year round and have no problems. Some are using a dry flow filter, some are using an oil based. They work great and never have thrown a code.
We usually put a Vibrant Peformance 3" dry flow filter with our kits, but for different fluctuation in prices, we can ship other filters with it, dry or oil.
No, there hasn't been any CEL's to date.
Yes, there is a significant difference in going from the stock intake to the R.A.W. 3" intake. To compare the stock intake to ours, the stock one has more bottlenecks, than it does straight pipe. It's also only a 2.5" pipe, when it's not bottlenecking. Our intake is 3" throughout, no bottlenecking, giving you true flow the whole way through.
Is it better than the Injen CAI? Well, for one, the Injen is only 2.5". Secondly, if you owned an Injen, and came to our shop for our CAI, you wouldn't be the first to swap the Injen for the R.A.W. CAI.
We actually have or had, one or two Injen's laying around the shop from people swapping them out for our intakes. Actually, I think we may have resold them to others...
Anyways, did that answer your question(s)?
PolishPauL 11-13-2007, 11:21 PM I really wanted this intake but it is way overpriced. Around $300 shipped for an intake? I could never spend $300 on a pipe for an intake. The Megan's exhaust is only $30 more and way more stainless steel with no welds showing.
killah_thug08 11-13-2007, 11:31 PM Im going with the RAW CAI before winter, i got a fujita on it right now and its also a 3inch but from what i see in real person from the rebels works from his welding to his movement of the intake there is nothing that i think other company's would compare to, some companies make there intake as an estimate to the engine bay , meaning they rub, and i have used injens gen 2 intake and fujita and they both rub in 1 way or another, plus rebels is steel not 6061 T6 Aluminum Intake Tubing.
IR0NS1N 11-13-2007, 11:53 PM It looks freakn sweet, with no MIL ill be sure to get it over the injen. Also how do you clean a non oiled filter? Can I use an air hose to spray out the dust or how does that work?
g5mike 11-13-2007, 11:55 PM the fittement and placing of the filter,is well thought out
BULLETSSMOKE 11-14-2007, 01:05 AM USUALLY, if you get a CEL from an intake or filter it goes away between 50 and 100 miles. I put on Fujita F5 filter and had a CEL for 75 miles and just went away.
distillion 11-14-2007, 02:24 AM no issues with mine at all.
i have swapped my injen for this one and have never looked back.
Omega_5 11-14-2007, 09:28 AM For me, I'm probably going with the Rebel intake in the near future.
I can justify paying the extra $85, cause almost every American company I buy from ships UPS, and I get rapped on the shipping charges and brokerage.
Eng@RebelAutoWorxs 11-14-2007, 10:13 AM You can get the EXACT same intake for $215 from RDfabs.
Stainless, 3" Straight through, one piece design, no CEL, and ZERO fitment issues. The bends almost look indentical. So now tell me why pay an extra $85, justify that?
please post up some pics, would like to see some quality, remember stainless parts aren't cheap and I doubt they use CNC made parts such as the MAF Bung. We go the distance to use quality parts on every component and then test and log our intakes using HP Tuners. I don't think even AEM or K&N go that far.
Here is ours:

I wanted that one but it won't fit on 07s. I think its better then rebels because there are no welds showing.

RuSSo-29 11-14-2007, 11:57 AM I have the Injen and I'm thinking about going 3". I could be in the market for one, but not without selling my Injen. Rebel, U guys wount happen to work on a trade in type deal where I send U my Injen, and get sum type of credit twards your Intake?
BULLETSSMOKE 11-14-2007, 01:07 PM Anyone know the diameter of the GMPP intake?
Omega_5 11-14-2007, 03:09 PM On top of it all, they don't resort to bashing other intakes to try and make theirs look better. Believe it or not, some places actually do that.
That's not really fair to say... name another company that has made the same kind of innovations for Cobalts that Rebel has? How about the same kind of dedication to one specific car?
Not to mention the fact that almost everything they sell is build in their own shop!
IR0NS1N 11-14-2007, 03:48 PM Well being able to see welds or not does not matter to me, looks like a quality product so Im going to buy it
turboeco 11-14-2007, 03:50 PM Great to hear, post pics when you get it!

The Rebel Auto Worxs intakes fit 07's. We used an 07 to model them, and they fit every proceeding year great.

Omega_5 11-14-2007, 05:29 PM I wasn't talking about Rebel. Vendor bashing isn't allowed.
They do make nice products, lets not crap up this guys thread anymore though.
Sorry, it sounded kind of :nono:
I just don't like people saying that Rebel is trying to gouge people... they do great work... if people don't want to pay, then that's their thing.
QuikSilverSS 11-22-2007, 08:21 AM has there been any dyno tests on this intake over stock? and this intake vs other manufacturers like Injen, K&N, AEM???
kanabrewski 11-22-2007, 08:44 AM i like it, installed fine and looks great.
No fitment issues if you take your time the first time.
No Cels, my fujita initially even gave me Cel's
And yes I replacedthe aluminum Fujita with poor fitment issues that eventually got a hole worn in it with this lovely stainless 3" version from Rebel.
Bout all I can say.... except Thanks Rebel!
CobaltSS313 11-22-2007, 12:20 PM as far as the intake goes, it will fit with the stock TB on the car. I thought about doing your group buy but never did due to money issues at the time. Also Rebel, you guys dont sell the actual TB you just sell the adapter plate, am i correct? I plan on getting this over my K&N if I can sell it that is, if not I plan on buying this anyways. Thanks.
JonyyB 11-24-2007, 10:34 AM Looks awesome!
Dumb question, does the 3” fit directly or do you need some kind of adapter?
Also, what is the advantage of having a larger intake if the air is going to be restricted going in the engine? Don’t you need a bigger TB? Just some newb questions form me since I am not mechanically inclined
skymynx 11-24-2007, 10:36 AM legit ? bump for answers

From people going from a Injen 2.5" to a our 3" they have felt a difference, but regardless that is why we have the 3.5" TB upgrade kit

Mine is attached to stock TB right now. with a 2.5" coupler stretched over. Till my new TB comes back from polishing

was it a comparison to a different intake, or just a dyno with that. I'd be interested in this, but liek to see some back to back testing on the same car, same day to make it worth the extra 85 dollars or so.

we will have a few dyno tests this spring, but for now the best I can do to justify the extra $85 is one it will never wear through like this:

It's a full 3" stainless with CNC part
Here's a review of a customer who when from K&N to ours:
"so i got the intake put in today. i had a k&n cold air on already and changing over intakes was worth every penny. the throttle response is much better. the car feels so much more responsive when hitting the accelerator. i couldn't open it up due to the weather but il post up as soon as i can. my first experience at rebel was a great one and will defiantly not be my last"
matt_SS_205 11-25-2007, 02:01 PM man i can't wait til mine gets here this week :)

killah_thug08 11-25-2007, 03:49 PM yees the fujita is also 3 inch and beleive me DO NOT get it, the design is shit, it hits the PCM or ECU or is beside the fuse box and and the bottom it pushes the splash guard and on the inner wheel well your tire is 1mm about to hit it on right turns, only thing i like about it is the actual filter, im going with the rebel CAI tube and fujita filter in like 2 weeks

PolishPauL 11-25-2007, 04:31 PM How bout a group buy to push it down to 235 shipped. Im sold if it goes down to that price but there is no way im payin more then that for an intake when i can get a stainless steel cat back exhaust for 330 shipped.
I am in for that Polish Paul. I would buy it at that price shipped but not what it is now.

Omega_5 11-26-2007, 02:30 PM Step 1) Re-read entire thread
Step 2) weight quality to cost
Step 3) make choice
:)
You pay for quality with Rebel. With the amount of happy customers they have, it's hard to say it isn't worth it.
Scythe_Snake 11-26-2007, 02:41 PM Omega, I will be in with you in about a month, when i start working again over christmas break. This is gunna be my first mod! :D
Omega_5 11-26-2007, 02:58 PM That might be a better idea.
Having a GB right before Christmas might be a little shaky anyways.
Anyone up for a Jan/Feb GB?
skymynx 11-26-2007, 04:51 PM is the 255 with no filter a gb price or regular price.
cer3bral 11-26-2007, 07:57 PM I'll buy one if i can get it powder coated black for $255 with no filter....shipped?
Fidget 11-26-2007, 08:09 PM I have the Rebel CAI and all i can say it is worth every penny. It is made from thick steal and wont rub in the fender. The last CAI that i had (the black one with the gash in it) had fitmit issues and was made from thin aluminum.
Well if it was made of thin aluminum and fit properly I WOULD BUY IT. $255 shipped powdercoated blue I would buy.
IR0NS1N 11-27-2007, 02:49 PM Hell id buy it for 300 cause its a quality product.

Thin aluminum? Look at all the other intakes and you'll see what this car does to all other thing aluminum intakes.
Havent had a problem with the one on mine now.
matt_SS_205 11-27-2007, 07:53 PM i was tryin to decide wether to buy the RAW Intake, so i went and was lookin at my Injen, and it had never rubbed before, but i can see a spot on it now where it has rubbed just a little, no where near rubbed through it, it's just kinda scarred
So is there a group buy yet for Christmas on this CAI?

Red Rocket SS 07-01-2008, 04:44 PM Rebel is a bunch of clowns. Bashing other vendors to make youself look better? C'mon. I feel sorry for all the people that got roped into your group buy. For some it's been, what 14 weeks and counting. Your customer service is non exsisting. Quick to take money from people, but you cant even throw back an email telling them there is gonna be a delay? You guys are overpriced and should be ashamed of yourselfs. RDFabs is the best way to go. My brother has no issues with fitment on his injen, but I can say that my K&N screams louder but a hole is almost worn threw from the ecu. I can say stuff about K&N because Bought it and tested it out myself and I have nothing to gain from telling these guys whats up.

Red Rocket SS 07-11-2008, 10:20 AM Why would you guys even think about getting in on this? People from the last group buy still havent gotten theirs. If you are dumb enough to do business with these guys, be prepared for them to sit on your money for a couple months and not respond to your emails. They blamed it on not being able to get the maf plates. Cmon, why didnt they have 50+ intakes made before they even posted the GB. They cant say they need your money first to build it, it only cost less then $75 to make. Shit, probly less than that.
