Question 17s or 18s My big question

I recently took of my 18x7.5 wheels w/215/35/18 tires to get ready for the winter months. My big question is what the hell do i do. As the 18s on the car look really smooth and clean the little bitty ass sidewalls hinder my thought process on performance. I have found some 17x7 wheels that will require 215/45/17 tires.....How does everyone think this rim and tire combo will look on the car and will it help me get over my fear of hard cornering?????

Suggestions are def welcome!!

Dont run 215/35's. U can and really should be using a bigger tire than that. 225/40 or 225/45 in the 18's would be better if you want to run with the bigger wheels. The 225/40 i think is what comes stock on the SS/SC's so u can run those no problems.. and im pretty sure there are members here running 225/45.. Its all up to you

for winter tires get sme 16's with a big tire. good 18's will run you just as much for the tires alone.

On the stock wheels, you can run at LEAST as large as 235/40 ... Many, including myself, are doing so. On 17's... why you couldn't do larger, I don't understand... Definately do NOT go smaller (tire size). For winter, I would seriously consider 16's, as stated above.

Thanks for all the above input so far. I plan on just running the stock tires and rims over the winter because here in st louis we dont need to worry much about snow. My main concern is when the winter is over to put the 18s back on or switch to 17s. I like the looks of both just dont know whether to run 18s or 17s. My 18s have one wheel that is dented so i plan to relpace them anyways.

So do i go with new 17s or 18s????????

Well I just decided to stay with 18s.... It looks much better. I will be switching tires to 215/40/18s though. Should help me get over the cornering issue lol

I am switching to 17s next summer... I like the low profile look, but after running 18s and 225/40s, I dont like the performance of the tire, the price, and how easy it is to bent/dent a rim, 1 of my rim is fu*ked up, the roads here are horriable too(probally why everybody drives trucks) I just bought 16" alum rims/tires for winter and I will see how well they perform but next summer, I think I am going to stick with these 16" til I can afford 17s with 235/45s..... The 18s wont go back on....so if anyone is looking for some, make me an offer and you can have them

Those are sick but i find the only problem with a chrome lip is it makes the rim look smaller than it actually is. I am a big fan of Gun Metal just because my car is silver lol.
Here is my choice if i go with the 17s..what do you think??

I'd stay with the 18's and go with a 225/40 or 45... the wider tire will protect your wheels more. If its cornering/handling issues your trying to combat invest in the progress rear sway bar.. maybe the Dc strut bar too if you dong have it.
