Putting on new wheels, this doesn't look right

Okay, so I'm just putting new 17" wheels on my LS that originally came with steel wheels. Now at the base of the wheel studs there are these little clamping washers that seem to interfere with the way the aluminum wheels seat against the rotors/drums. Does anybody know what these are for? Do I just remove these before I put on the new wheels?

Thanks,
Andrew

those are just there to hold the rotors in place.. they are worthless and are taken off when u change ur rotors anyway.. but shouldnt interfere with your rims

they are used during the assembly process... no need for them.

Thanks guys! I figured they were unnecessary but I wanted a second opinion to be sure. I just went out to the garage and popped them all off then put the new rims back on. Much better fit now, the TSW wheels I have wouldn't seat properly with those washers still on.

Cheers

i used to work for discount tire.. we would ALWAYS take them off.. you cant properly torque down lugs with those washers on aftermarket wheels.. possibly dangerous situation if your driving down the road and your wheels fall off...

Yeah, same at our shop. Those things are just for the assembly line and are dangerous for aftermarket wheels.

Possibly dangerous? I would think it would be DEFINITELY dangerous if your wheels fall off while your driving down the road.
