How did the dealer remove your pulley when installing stage 2?
How did the dealer remove your pulley when installing stage 2?
Just as the subject states, how did your dealer remove your stock pulley, with a press or puller? I was just curious on what most dealers use to remove the stock pulley.
Has anyone experinced any problems later on directly affecting the supercharger after having Stage 2 installed, especailly if the dealer used a press to remove the stock pulley? I'm wondering if using a press or a puller is the safer route.

I did it myself and I used a pulley puller (3 prong adjustable) for removing the pulley and a power steering pump pulley installer (threads into the shaft) on both of my Cobalts. No problems thus far......and there shouldn't be any.

It was disturbing to say the least.
Apart from the gerbles, I wasn't impressed with my GM Service experience.
The monks were clearly in need of hydration and the Illegal immigrants were already screaming Wal-Mart.
Damn those Red Sox.
.........My dealer had two , 5 year old Mexican children remove the blower unit and they passed it into a van that contained several "BOAT PEAOPLE". After beeing shot though the Tibetan Monk -line of progression, they strapped 18 gerbles into a harness and yanked the pully off.

that whole thing made my night!
time for bed
using a hydraulic or air press to get it off is ok. if your dealer uses the same press or a system that does not incorporate the use of a press designed for this job then I feel sorry for your supercharger bearings. hopefully the longterm effects of this are never realized.
the proper press has a stud that holds the threaded press shaft butted up to the SC shaft. this way press forces are on the end of the sc shaft sparing the SC and bearings from getting marred from the extreme pressures to press on the new hub.
I did it myself with a press I purchased used. It was from intense racing. either ZZP or instense racing is a good choice. careful going to a machine shop though I would want to watch. the tech may not care how he gets the job done he may just get it done and you wont be the wiser.
If your doing this yourself and need help when you get to pressing on the shaft then I have a solution. Actually I should do a how to on that. If I get PM or posts here requesting for I will. sometimes requires two people but can be done with one person. I have but I have done 6 sc now and can get it done really quickly with manual tools. I dont use heat either
Hope that helps you all.

GMS3 and nitrous 50 shot (GMS3 designed to work with this) will likely net 290 at the wheels or so.
does anyone know the easiest and quickest way to take the stage 2 pulley off to swap to a smaller pulley??? i heard you can get like a crow bar or something and position it somewhere to give the belt some slack so you can just unbolt the pulley and bolt the new one on...anyone know if thats true and where exactly to place the crow bar???

the gm techs around here just drive past the cobalt in a gto, and the pulley falls off
get a gt35r (turbocharger), and the necessary supporting mods(intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbo piping, fuel injectors, axles, clutch, motor and tranny mounts, and the list goes on and on...). you'll probably have to get a cometic head gasket, and arp head studs, and some new valve springs(that means opening the motor) but with a turbo, the bottom end can take 400 or so
basically, what you want to do wont happen.
you will have to open the motor for a little bit of head work.
the gm stages arent even gonna get you close, in fact, you're not gonna get anywhere near those numbers with the factory supercharger on there.
this is a huge undertaking, that youre no where near ready for.. since you have no idea what youre doing, i can assume you're not doing the work yourself.. its gonna cost you big bucks to do that..
