Turbo Ss Conversion Progress

Well boys, things are coming along great so far.

All the fab work is done, car is on the dyno and the tune is perfect up to 16 psi.

This car is equipped with stage 2 upgrade, stock cat, corsa exhaust.

We are up 78 ft. lb torque, and 55 hp at 16 psi peak hp, which is exactly what the supercharger made on this car.

303 hp 300 ft. lb torque.

The boost controller spikes to 18 psi then falls to 16 psi as seen on the graph.

Here is the graph.

Tuning will continue with bigger injectors and more boost.

What do you mean "Stage 2 upgrade" if the car has a turbo now.

Do you mean the injectors....?

Stage 2 upgrade before the turbo which included the injectors and PCM upgrade.

But it is custom tuned starting with the stage 2 flash.

Red is Torque, Blue is HP, Green is Boost.

303 hp 300 torque

This is an overlay of the turbo vs best pull with superhcarger, the lower lines are all Supercharger from 4000 and up.

Those are some nice curves you have there. Haha. Anyway what kind of turbo are you using? What are idc's like with the 42's?

3rd pull, couldn't get it to boost higher than 22.35psi due to the boost controller.

22psi
you are definitely going to need bigger injectors than the 42's. I dunno how they arent' going completely static Mine were at 135-143% IDC above 5800rpm and the fuel pump ran out of steam a little after that and started leaning out.

Your dyno curve has a nasty drop in it, this could mean trouble, hope you have it ironed out.

Our IDC hits 91 percent at 11.8 A/F 6800 rpm then trials off it is all in the tune.

I am using a GT3071R instead of the GT2860RS

Resetting the wastegate and installing 60 lb injectors in the morning.

I am blowing through the MAF so I can use a Turbo XS RFL blow off valve per request.

After tuning my fuel trims are + or - 5% everywhere.

pretty much the same setup I've been running just with a different turbo. That spike is something I still can't get out of the tune, no matter what it's still there. My car coudln't even hold an 11.6 AFR above 5800rpm no matter what I did... plus fuel pressure was dropping @6200 rpm (which is where that big dip was) Doesn't matter though, car is getting stripped soon and all parts are going into another test car since we think there is something wrong with my fuel system

nice numbers not bad at all. would expect more but hey its the begining stages. ill let you fine tune it (ie: bigger injectors and more boost) before i really think bout doing it. but very nice steady numbers. highly impressive.

ORLY... tell that to 06black... and 06blackg85ss who are hitting over 350 on stock internals...

the stuff is rated at 350 on the car for things to start breaking... with the SC and a 125 shot of nitrous.. nitrous... sudden surge of power and is very stressfull.. SC produces alot of heat and sudden power which is stressful on the engine..

using a turbo is much more efficient and these internals should hold till around 400 whp on these cars with a turbo swap...

you could do a 125 shot on stock internals but i would recommend using a progressive controller to do it. i have nitrous personally and i would never put that big of a shot on my car though. not without some serious internals

324 hp 321 torque, but boost is falling off, waiting for a different boost controller.

Hits 20 at 4500 then falls to 17.5.

Thanks, For now we are not going to push this motor any harder, we are pulling the motor and going to install sleeves and pistons in it, then we will go for 450 at the tire.

Talked with Ray Bates, Bates engineering today and he did all the development work on the Ecotec program with GM, He does the sleeves in the Ecotec, and warned me that 400 flywheel will break the cylinder even without deto.

We are also considering Cams, and Valve upgrades while it is apart.

Ted.
