View Full Version : air intakes? exhausts? jmfss2nr 01-06-2005, 08:44 PM has anybody heard of any possible air intakes, headers or cat back systems? EvenStar 01-06-2005, 08:47 PM AEM is working on an Intake system, as for headers and exhaust I don't think there is any Known ones coming out soon, in time definetly. The cobalt will have a huge aftermarket I expect, just got to get the car out first  jmfss2nr 01-06-2005, 08:54 PM thanks. im gettin anxious, i work at a dealership and the truck driver i talked 2 tuesday said there were some built but he didnt know when they were gona start shipping. i hope the aftermarket picks up soon. i wana get a few bolt ons b4 the car gets here :-D Voodoosoup 01-07-2005, 12:02 AM I believe the Motor Trend article stated that it comes with a free-flowing 2.5" exhaust. So I wouldn't think you'll need to worry about that unless you're planning some major mods... Redlinekid_04 01-07-2005, 01:12 AM Free flowing my foot.. Its free flowing as itll get factory, but there is always room for improvement. When you guys get the cobalts you will see, the muffler is a turd!! zomghax 01-07-2005, 01:25 AM I figured a header upgrade and 3" exhaust would be the first mod on most people's lists... Well, that is if most people are thinking of going beyond the basic bolt-ons. Sounds like lots of you are :) Magnaflow has some nice race series muffers that would do nicely back there :) Redlinekid_04 01-07-2005, 01:32 AM I have 3inch catback and im waiting on my header! I have a 3inch magnaflow muffler on there too, sounds reeeaaaalll nice! Boost Addict 01-07-2005, 01:55 AM it would be intresting to see how AEM design thier intake for the ss s/c, the indent for clearence of the hydrolic struts is just evidence that GM had retard design team that didnt consider all factors when making the design. zomghax 01-07-2005, 02:04 AM it would be intresting to see how AEM design thier intake for the ss s/c, the indent for clearence of the hydrolic struts is just evidence that GM had retard design team that didnt consider all factors when making the design. Agreed. That dent pissed me off when I saw it. I hope that installing an aftermarket intake won't require a relocation kit for the strut... That would suck ass :wtf: zstyle 01-07-2005, 03:22 AM AEM is working on an Intake system, as for headers and exhaust I don't think there is any Known ones coming out soon, in time definetly. The cobalt will have a huge aftermarket I expect, just got to get the car out first  SC Dyne Performance (owned by SCDyne who posts here) has developed a header for the ION Redline that has a guaranteed wheel horse power increase of 10% ie. 20 whp, and from what I understand they have seen increases as much as 15%. As soon as the Cobalt arrives I'm sure SC Dyne will fit the header to the Cobalt and offer it for sale. With gains like that, when I finally graduate and get a new car I will definitely get in line for one of those. I've also heard that K&N are developing an intake for the Redline, that supposedly dyno'd a 13hp increase. zstyle 01-07-2005, 03:23 AM Oh, and I'd imagine this thread should probably be under the 2.0L Performance forum. ;) virtualgolfer913 01-08-2005, 12:33 PM Hey I Have Heard Nothing About Stuff Being Available To Buy, I Just Bought My Cobalt....lt 4door And Am Allready Checking For Stuff, But I Think I Will Have To Wait....come Check Out My Cobalt At Cardomain Djs Cobalt EvenStar 01-08-2005, 03:25 PM Hey I Have Heard Nothing About Stuff Being Available To Buy, I Just Bought My Cobalt....lt 4door And Am Allready Checking For Stuff, But I Think I Will Have To Wait....come Check Out My Cobalt At Cardomain Djs Cobalt Cool car man, and welcome to :cssNET: and I found you have a pic of the dash at night, very cool. freejack16maggot 01-09-2005, 11:55 PM there are lots of stuff for the 2.2 you just have to look under cavi thats all, www.huhnracecraft.com has a turbo kit for the 2.2 goooooood stuff you just have to make sure it fits batman_blk 01-10-2005, 08:12 PM Is the 2.2 ecotec the same in the cavalier, and if so dats means I can use cavi parts as far as the engine is conserned. EvenStar 01-10-2005, 09:14 PM This 2.2 is a bit different than that of the current cavaliers, you may be able to MODIFY the parts from Cavis into the car, but that's all. I don't think you can direct port performance parts from the current 2.2 to this gen. Oh and welcome to :cssNET: Funky Cricket 01-11-2005, 03:44 PM not that this thread should really be in appearance, but I am hoping for some basic mods to be coming out soon. CAI, and maybe some Pulleys.. not sure what my wife will let me do. don't really need it, but i do like to go faster. Racecrafter 01-11-2005, 05:29 PM We are working on as many parts as possible for the Cobalt. We will be making both the 2 and 4 door body kits, ram air hood (That is selling right now!) suspension, headers, single and dual cat back, brake kits, carbon fiber trim and........... drum roll please, our own, yes our own designed...... Turbo for the Base and LS models!! Wanna kick the !@#$ out of the SS for less$$ ?? Stay tuned, RC 2005blueSSColbalt 01-21-2005, 11:29 PM all i will do is get a header and a electric cut out and done! :cssNET: lol with the Exhaust zinner 01-23-2005, 08:51 PM What does an air intake or an exhaust have to do with Appearance ?? http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif 2005blueSSColbalt 01-24-2005, 11:43 AM What does an air intake or an exhaust have to do with Apperance ?? http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif lol what i was thinking but oh well  adjat84th 01-25-2005, 06:27 PM well..you could say it effects the appearance if you were to say, go with dual exhaust like one guy on redlineforums which looks very nice. And you might also say that the intake would effect appearance if you used the ram air hood. So I guess maybe this topic could stay in this forum....maybe. I know I'd want to go 3" all the way to the cat and run it out to a dual exhaust surrounded by that sweet rear bumper by razzi. -adam- Nocturn 02-20-2005, 11:43 PM There is always room for improvment, but it doesn't always justify the price. Borla on a GTO only gives 12HP (at the engine) and cost 800 some odd dollars just for catback. rm25x 02-22-2005, 09:22 AM We are working on as many parts as possible for the Cobalt. "Performance cars do not win car shows and show cars do not win races. It's up to you to decide which you'd rather win." So some people really only get an intake and exhast just purly for the looks they don't car about performance. They don't care if it gives them 100hp or 1hp. All they want is to look good. Jmfssn2r just might want that OR he might have posted this in the wrong place. Who knows :poke: (just like like posting that smilie no real reason) |
