Synchros
by keeping the clutch in as you coast to a stop lite you heat up the syncros.. the cutch is only ment to be engages for 2 -5 sec period of time. it could have everything to do with this. if people would be taught how to drive stick properly then issues like this wouldnt arise.
do you feather it in to you gears .. ie being slow with the clutch to make your shifting smoother.. this also causes a large amout of heat/ wear on you syncro.
im not knocking you on your drivin skills its just a general statement^

no when i coast i have it in neutral not with the clutch in...anyways your saying when im at a complete stop waiting for the light to turn green its ruining my synchros by holding in the clutch? i dnno about that my best friends father has built trannys since he was 5 and never once mentioned that to me...

do you do it in a in one motion.. its kinda hard to explain...hmmm.. ok. do you engage the clutch fast or slow. or do you kinda ease the clutch on and off as you enter you gear of choice..
i know your not being a a *****.. im trying to problem solve.. not to mention im not working today so im bored.
up your ass .. atleast they will be if you interject into my converstation....lol

i push in the clutch at a normal rate, i dont ease it or slam the clutch either, just where its comfortable to me...i dnno i have been drivin a stick since i was little my dad taught me when i was 3 so i dnno, this is the first time this has happened to me
i had 7500miles on my car and the 2nd gear synchro went bad. I took it to the dealer and the guy said something had slipped and it was not a driver error. It was all covered under warantee
nate, holding in the clutch wont overheat the syncros, they arent under stress, they are just winding down with the wheels. They arent understress because the car is slowing down, and they wont overheat because should be drenched in fluid. Hes got 80k plus, its probably normal wear, my advice, slide the shifter slower into that gear, the grind wont be as noticable.
yahh ive been just puttin it in neutral and rollin to a stop, now someone also suggested to me to put a little thicker fluid in there and it'll help not grind but it may be a little harder to shift, whats your input on that?
