Auto To Manual Tranny Swap

So i think i drive a 2.2 Auto Cobalt :sarcasm:

i really like driving with a manual car and i would love to swap it

around how much would the instilation cost alone (not the trans)

I have searched!!!!

Probably atl least $2k, you would need new wiring harnesses, new shifter,clutch pedal assembly, hydraulic clutch parts, CV axels, etc....

well i mean labor alone, i can find most of that used im sure... would it still be around 2k to have it installed?

hmmm thanks guys this helps alot....i guess ill just keep it manual because getting it installed not from the dealer will not make them happy with my warranty

the biggest issue is the computer. when gm punches your vin number into their site for the computer updates, it does not allow them to change the pcm from auto to manual, your vin number is permenently assigned as an automatic. doesnt matter if you get a 5 speed pcm, it has to be flashed to your vin number to match the other modules on the car.

aside from changing all the modules in your car to ones from another car that all have the matching vin number flashed in them already, it makes this swap next to impossible.
