Z-Spec alluminum crank pulley
Z-Spec alluminum crank pulley
well ive been reading up on this for a few days and ive been finiding things out that having a lighter crank pulley is bad because the stock pulley on the 2.0 serve as a dampner for the engine and replacing this causes more vibration through the engine and eventually tearing it
is this true?
is this true?
yes, there is a guy on a local forum that had a lightened pulley on without the dampener on his TT 350z, when he blew a piston, and tore apart the engine, the machine shop found hairline cracks on the crank..
I'd suggest against it, until someone comes out with a dampener pulley thats light weight..
also honda guys have the same issue alot fo the time

that means that the pulley wasnt balanced properly. on my cavalier the crank pulley also served as a balancer and i had the unorthodox racing light weight smaller pulley and it worked fine no issues what so ever. all depends 1 the new pulley is balanced and 2 if the thing is installed properly.
you can't compare a nissan engine to a gm engine.
nissan's do not like light weight crank pulleys. UNLESS they are balanced with it.
stick with the stocker. you'll be good

obviously GM/nissan/honda puts the dampener there for a reason, and only on the cars that need it like the quads and the ecotec but not the LN2....but then i forgot, everyone on here has more experience and engineering knowledge than GM/nissan/honda..
i wasn't neccessary comparing the 2 engines, i was just stating experience with light weight pulley's that are supposed to have a dampener in them but do not.

i guess the people who make the pulleys, in the aftermarket world are some sort of genius as well.
it's a monkey with a ******* keyboard and a banana for a got damn mouse.
