View Full Version : Turning Radius
Is it just my car or do all cobalts have a huge turning radius? I can barely make a u-turn most of the time. Its really aggravating being a small car you'd think it wouldnt turn like a truck. Any responses or suggestions would help before i get fed up and trade it in. Thanks
RaineMan 12-14-2007, 05:14 PM You have an SS?
I know with the 17's and 18's the Cobalt has a huge ass turning radius... get used to skipping U-turns... it takes atleast 2 lanes to get turned around. Make a left at the light... then find a parking lot or driveway to turn around in. It'll save your rims and bumper.
fballman1987 12-14-2007, 05:15 PM bigger wheels= bigger turning radius
BOOSSTED 06 12-14-2007, 05:17 PM yup this car with all its glory and equipment just has a big turning radius

yeppers... we might as well be driving an F-350 dually
Sharkey 12-14-2007, 10:05 PM ive been driving mine for a month and a half and most of the time i still overshhot parking spots because of the large turning radius.
g5mike 12-14-2007, 10:08 PM most new vehicles today are like this, the old pathfinder im driving is much easier to park.
Herndon_High_SS 12-14-2007, 10:11 PM I had to reverse in a 4-way intersection to make a u-turn once. Man did I feel like a bitch.
crazy-eh666 12-14-2007, 10:17 PM i came from an 03 spec v to a 06 ss/sc, the spec was wayyyy better in turning radius.
Mrmaasta 12-14-2007, 11:06 PM Yep its got a terrible turning radius.
leadfoot 12-15-2007, 01:26 AM i always have to whip it right real quick before i pull a u-turn.
i can't remember ever having a problem parking, but at one point i drove an f-250 crew cab short bed with a 6" lift and 47" tires.
supa_chgd_07 12-15-2007, 01:45 AM ive seen a small school bus make a u-turn in a smaller space than my cobalt could do it in

:lol::lol::lol::lol:
ptrblkz24 12-15-2007, 01:50 PM Yes,the turning radius sucks on these cars.Thats the only thing i miss about my 98 z24.That car could whip a u-turn like nothing.Bmw's have the best steering ratio of any car ive driven. They have some sort of variable steering ratio that makes it easier to make turns at low speeds.
jigyflyuk07 12-15-2007, 01:53 PM I don't have THAT much of a problem in my LT. it's still pretty bad though.
freakta 12-15-2007, 01:57 PM ha ha the wifes lt has the sickest turning radius she could do donuts inside my cars turning radius
OzzyruleZ 12-15-2007, 02:00 PM I know the feeling, my 87 s-10 blazer will turn circles around the cobalt. its pretty bad.

and i wasnt even joking. i was in the bus too!
yeah i have an 2.4 ss. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess thats theres no economically sound way to try to make it better right?
EmperorJJ1 12-16-2007, 04:58 AM doubt it but that would be pimp... i would be down for a mod to help me flip a bitch easier

never the less.... it's still funny!!! the SC has the worst turning radius of ANY car I have owned and I have owned over 20 cars. But, the SC on a Auto-X course or race track has really nice steering... I am impressed w/ the SC in that respect!

rukkee 12-16-2007, 10:02 AM I don't have THAT much of a problem in my LT. it's still pretty bad though.
Thats because it's the bigger wheels of the ss's that cause the radius problem , if everone threw on a set of 15''s im sure it would turn just fine .
