ok i bought my car used from a mitsubishi dealership (only place around here that had a ss s/c in black with the red inserts) how can i tell if i have the g85?

 

if it's before a 2007, if it has recaro seats 99% it has the lsd. the g85 includes recaro seats and the lsd. so they usually go together. that's hte easy way to tell

 

recardo seats are the red and black colored ones right? i never heard of racaro seats.

 

they say recaro on them. if they don't say recaro then they're not. the red and blacks are not them, which most likely means you don't have lsd.

 

no recardos are usually very tan with black tops. and no the recaros in the ss/sc's are not red and black, they are black leather with a mesh type grey material on the insert

since it has red inserts and if its not a 07 it does not have lsd

 

how can u tell on an 07 for anyone else out there since i know they didnt come with the recaros after the begining of the year

 

different wheels, the 07's have chrome wheels and a different spoke design

 

Best way to tell is:

1. Put your car in neutral
2. Jack up the front wheels
3. Spin one of the front wheels in either direction

If you have LSD, the other wheel will spin in the same direction, if not, the other wheel will spin in the other direction.

Or, you can get your VIN looked up by any of the GM employees who visit this site (there's a thread out there for this I think). G85 will show up as an option code if you have the LSD. Also, I have an '07 with G85 and no Recaros, it ended up saving me some money in the end, the seats are nice but they don't do much for daily driving.

Quaife is now selling the f35 tranny LSD for $995, thats $500 less than when i considered to swap over. I ended up getting the whole g-85 equipped transmission from GM and just swapping it out because it was worth it at the time. I'd only go through quaife, i trust their LSD
