Question on 3m tape....

I plan on buying a few items to enhance the appearance of my balt.

I want to get the tailshades seen here....
http://www.pfyc.com/pc/CB1004/CBEXT/...+-+Cobalt.html

And possibly the door visors and side window covers seen here...
http://www.cobalt-addiction.com/exterior.htm

So I've got a couple question...
All these items are attached with 3m tape.

How does this tape hold up to the elements? Rain, snow, car washes, etc.

How thick is this tape? Are these parts going to sit up against my cars body or is there gonna be like a 1/4 inch gap due to the tape?

Do I have any other options in attaching these items to my car?

Thanks for any help.

Use clear silicon when putting your tail shades on. The tape shows through when the taillights are on.

Hmm, how exactly do you mean?
I assume your talking about silicon that comes in like a tube?
Do I need to get any certain type?
And where exactly would I put the silicon? In the tailshades? On the tail lights?
Any problems with rain, snow, carwashes, etc if I use silicon?
And would this work for the door visors and window covers?

Thanks
