will tuning my car void the factory warranty?

i want to get some extra power without anymore engine mods so i want to use hptuners...
i dont want to void my warranty so i was wondering if it would...
if i do get the hptuners, should i get the standard one or the proffessional one for more power??

with pretty much ANY aftermarket mods, you'll void the warranty.

be careful with your CAI and exhaust... you never know when the dealer will decide to be a dick and void your warranty for those.

magnuson moss act. no aftermarket item can void your warranty unless it is proven that it caused failure. to the OP: your changing the way the entire car is running. if anything goes wrong, they will automatically blame it on the tune. play it safe, if you care about your warranty, dont tune

Guys..........as has been said a thousand times.......the dealership can not void your warranty unless they can prove without a doubt that whatever problem you have was caused by a modification that you did.

So do whatever mod you like!!!

How is the dealer going to even know your car is tuned? They might be able to look AFRs, but do you really think the tech is going to know if its stock or not?

Flash it back to stock if something breaks...

Well the tune could void the warranty if the tune caused the promblem, but they would have to know about it. And with HPT you could flash it back to stock and they would not know. So if you got the dough go for it. Also in regards to which version to get, again if you got the dough the pro box is the best choice you will be able to log AUX gauges such as a WB and an EGT gauge which is always a plus. And you could also do stand alone data logging, only promblem being that with the E67 ECM in are car the box can only record about 18 mins worth of data. The basic box will get you by you just cant do the stand alone logging and log AUX gauges.

Im tired so I might of missed something

So if my transmission fails and I have an HP Tune done......you can say without question it was the tune that did it? What about a bearing failing, or the plug falls out and drains the transmission......tune problem? Not at all. It has to be proven without a doubt that whatever mod you did caused the problem before warranty can not be granted.

I have Stage II, Injen CAI, Magnaflow exhaust and I have had some warranty work without any questions.

I really think that it comes down to what dealer you are at and how they feel about modifications.
