What POSSIBLE 2.4 Mods Are There?
Ok heres the deal. If my parents knew I raced my car, I'd be patamobile/escalegs lol. So I REALLY doubt there is any way I could afford to put my car out of commission for a week or two to get the turbo done, so I was just wondering what mods are there to get much faster past intake, header-back exhaust, and a tune? Even if they're a lil more expensive, and links if you could? Gracia
i wouldnt reccomend nitrous...its a one time thing and then you have to pay to get the bottle refilled..not real;ly worth it IMO....pretty much unless its your basic I/H/Full Exhaust and such anything else you do will require down time in the garage...turbo wouldnt be so long...you could do cams...wrench them in in a day maybe 2....other than that im not really sure...thers nothing you can do thats going to net you any gains thats actually worth spending money on
So am I right in thinking that a 2.4 with headers, high flo cat, intake, & cat-back exhaust & a tune will be jsut as fast as the SS/SC stock in the quarter mile? I'm only guessing cuz if the SS/SC has 205 hp, usualy 10% is lost right? So its about 189 @ the wheels? And REDFOCZ has 186 at the wheels? Or its not all about the HP the 2.4 is just slower cuz its not boosted?

Now a SC swap puts you at 240-250 WHP and kicking the crap out of the SS/SC cars.
Oh and BTW don't race on the street, thats what tracks were built for.
Sadly the Focus in the lane next to you isn't going to be at the track any time soon. However every mfing car in the county running better than 13 seconds will be. I never a legit daily drivers night @ any track ive ever seen.
i would say get a complete nitrous system and do your homework and run it only every now and then. get all the correct stuff like controlers, bottle heaters, purge valves, wet kit, the correct gauges, etc. if you do you homework it will be the easiest and cheapest way to go fast.

that is from summit racing. and that with the 50 shot in would get you 14s. now that only thing i didn't put on that is the WOT switch that i would add. i am not a fan of push button on set ups.
well if you are smart with its and don't use it every single day and drain the bottle everytime you use it. you will be fine. sure things can happen but more things can happen on a turbo/supercharger set up. and with a wet kit you are pretty darn safe. you really have to be dumb to blow it up or have product failure. and also with the left over money, as compared to a turbo kit or supercharger swap. you could get new pistons and gaskets and build the top over the motor a bit and really never have a single problem.
p.s. i just got what you where saying lol, well most races that i do are over in less then 20-30 sec. anyways

first off i think the full exhaust for like 500-700 bucks is a waste, we already have 2.5 piping (most of it anyways) the only thing thsoe full exhausts do is better resonator and muffler...best thing you can do is straight pipe a 2.5 pipe thro ur resenator and get a flomaster or magnaflow muffler..
nitrous is the only way u will come close to ss/sc times, if ur racing on the street there is a chance u can beat a ss/sc if u are cams+header/dp+exhaust parts+tune+intake+good tires+light rims+traction mods..without all of that u dont stand a chance..

Its not a waste. Its for those who really only want the extra power at the strip and every so often on the street. Yes you have to refill the bottle but how many other ways can you get 75hp for under 1k?
btw the guy in cali w/ I/H/E/DP/T/Cams/drag radials ran 14.1 @ 100. That will beat just about any stock ss/sc at the track. Any modded sc is a different story.
