My projector retrofit progression

Alright so today i started my projector retrofit. I only started fitting one side and i really didnt get far. I mounted the projector lens to the stock reflective housing. I took some pics of the cutoff line but i dont have them at the time. Keep in mind that these use halogen bulbs. i wanted the hid's but i got the projectors for free so i cant complain. here are some pics of the fitment. I can already tell that the hardest part of this will be to aim the lights. By no way shape of form am i anywhere close to done with this lens, i still need to make a bezel around the projector so you cant see behind it

more updated pics on page 2

And another question. Should i keep the housing of the headlight painted vic red or should i paint it a different color, maybe gunmetal or black. obv my car is vic red

I would do the inner-housing black. I think the black inside just looks oh so good.

Good Work so far. :

I remember those days I went black, because I have a black car. However IMO color matching besides a darker color looks weird unless you have an amazing clear lense. Black would cause more attention if your car is red...

What style projector are you using. Looks like a set of E46s with the slotted lense, but not sure.

So they aren't OEM equipment then? Did you have to buy a 9006 HID kit for them? They look similar to the e46s out of the 5 series BMWs, that's why I asked.

Here were my black ones. (They lack the shroud in this picture, I made one so settle down! )

yeah i want to keep them color matched, but when or if i wanted to sell them, it would be a lot easier to sell if they were black compared to red lol

I have a spare set of headlights... want me to just ship you the inner bezel? I screwed up the outer lense and was planning on scrapping them anyways.

what do you mean?

So here is the update, today i installed the housing in the car to check out the beam and try to adjust it to be level so it can be used for everyday driving. here are some pics. i still need to make a bezel to cover the reflective side of the lens

And it looks like the paint color is going to be black

im have one night pic of the cutoff beam thats all, but its on my gf's computer i'll take some when it gets dark out. the cutoff with the halogen bulb looks sweet, but when i put an hid bulb in the cutoff looks wierd. if you look closley at the pic of the garage the hid beam is aimed above the halogen one, look at the cutoff line. its only when there in a hid bulb in, when the halogen bulb is installed the cutoff line is straighter then ever

cutoff line with some of the reflective housing still working lol
