Actually if just a muffler was used and the stock resonator was intact it wouldn't sound to bad.

And an oval bodied muffler is different than a round fart can, the oval muffler has more roving material and room for sound wave expansion/cancelation.

Straight through mufflers:
-Borla
- Magnaflow
- SLP
- Dynomax Ultra Flo

Corsa's muffler is straight through. Really, if you look at their systems it's almost like a dual resinator system vs the factory resinator with muffler design.

I didn't know that the Borla mufflers were straight through. But the rest that are listed are. Flowmasters are not.

Read 2nd paragraph.

Q. How does FLOW affect performance and sound?

BORLA exhaust systems’ patented, straight-through design increases exhaust gas velocity and moves more uninterrupted air through the engine. Since there are no restrictions, exhaust gases evacuate the cylinder completely, thereby allowing the new charge to come into the cylinder and create more power. The result is a larger volume of torque from the engine as well as an enhanced exhaust tonal quality

Don't forget that turbocharged engines are MUCH quieter than supercharged ones to begin with allowing them to fit flow-through exhausts without the obnoxius loud exhaust tone associated with this design. Have you ever seen how long the stock, or even Magnaflow, resonators are on the 2.0L SC?? About 24"-30". That's HUGE!! Hope this helps.

You can run race gas with any muffler. Race gas could hurt your cat though, and it definetely can kill some O2 sensors. Make sure its unleaded though, leaded will definetely clog a cat and kill sensors quickly.

Yeah an exhaust shop or your local tuner can do that for you.
