The right turbo...

Okay, when rebel put out the video on youtube of the test car with, what looks to be the stage one kit, and put down 356 was that on the T3 turbo? Or GT2871RS? and they even said that the turbo was bad so it could do more. Thanks everyone

So hows it running now? Have you got all the tuning issues fixed?

lol thanks that;s only the beginning.
As for the Tag/rebel kit with the gt28, should be able to pump out over 350whp with faster spool, but that;s what you're pretty much limited to. I know they ended up making like 320whp after tuning and whatnot.
I'm installing a bigger ball bearing turbo saturday (hopefully) and should be making better midrange and top power (I will be in the 380-390whp range)

car is running good, killed the turbo seals though, but I think that was from me.
Still having some fueling issues up top, but car pulls like a beast.

Do you have the bugs in the tuning all figured out?

what kind of fueling issues are you having? running lean?

yeah it leans out up top (60lb injectors at 156%idc lol) but getting the new hahn intake mani with the portfuler so that should solve my issues. COmbined fuel flow of 102 lb/hr per cyl of injector should just about do it.
Oh yeah, still only on pump gas, no meth, and the car never gets any KR ever. strange even though it will randomly lean out to 13.5:1

do you have a front mount intercooler? and with the stage one kit I should have no problem with the GT2871RS at like 24 pounds without a front mount and the gm dual pass kit, and front mount upgraded cobra heat exchanger and distilled water and water wetter? Oh, I wanted to have a race gas tune made by a local tuning shop so when I go to the strip I can run 109 and like close to 30 pounds? From your experience, will this work? Thanks for the help man.

if you're on a stock motor I would keep it around 22 psi man. anything more than that and you're on borrowed time. I run a FMIC and the stock air/water HE (until the hahn manifold comes in) 30lb's is also pushing a gt28 way out of efficiency, 24lb's is the max I would run on that turbo from watching how my friends run em on their srt-4's (24psi = 415 whp and 385wtq on race gas on srt's)
But I need to order a bigger FMIC since I'll only be running a single intercooler, so I need to get cracking on that in preperation.

IIRC Tag managed to make 403whp on a stock bottom end with the 2871R on 24psi. There was never a sheet released to prove it though.

ah sweet!!! The saving has begun!!! Hopefully around summer I should have the money to buy the stage one kit and GT2871RS and pull some nice numbers. Oh, and yeah, I read that with increase lift and duration on the camshaft lobes you are able to run more boost than with stock settings. Hence that is how the EVO guys push stock turbos to 23 on pump gas...some even 24.... But yeah, I have some engine fundamentals books and you can learn a lot man. Thanks so much for all of the helpful info 06black and 2K5. And if more comes up than please post. I will keep reading and googling to find out more.

I'm going tot smaller turbo route with a t3/16g It looks like a baby compared to the turbos some of these guys are running but I'm not planning on upgrading my internals and I'm only looking for 325 hp. I personally think that it will be a safer 325 hp than the supercharger's 250 hp.
