First step in tuning my S/C setup?
First step in tuning my S/C setup?
Hey I was hoping someone would be able to give me a bit of a guide line to follow when it comes time to start tuning for my S/C.
I am basically asking does anyone have a good starting point as to what I need to adjust in my tune BEFORE I install my S/C?
Meaning I tune the car. shut it off. install S/C. Start car.
Do I have to retard timing? If so how much would be recommended to keep me running while I figure out what needs to be tweeked?
Do I need to add fuel if I'm just idleing?
Do I need to change anything at all if I want to take the car for a test cruise?
Should I change any settings before going WOT?
These are the kinda things I need answered before I install my new setup.
Thanks in advance.
PS I use the AEM FIC.
Anyone have ANY TIPS at all???

I am assuming you have a 2.4 and you are going to install an m62? If so, look for Beck. He did the same thing to his car and can likely steer you in the right direction. I have tuned SS/SCs and SS 2.4 NAs, but never a conversion.
read this thread as far as tuning the car

if you are running larger than stock injectors, you need to adjust the pulse width so the car will idle like stock
whether you need to retard timing or not all depends on how the ECU reacts to your changes...IIRC sometimes the ECU will like to add additional timing when fuel is added so in this case timing may need to be retarded.
nothing mechanical wise should need to be done once you have everything installed
