new...g85 vs reg ss/sc

Hello all,
I am new to the forum, posted in the NEW PPL part but didnt get any responses.
Ill introduce myself, Name is Tim, im 18, freshman in college and currently drive a 2007 Ram 1500 Quad Cab..loaded chrome 20's etc etc...
long story short it's a lemon...getting taken back*hopefully soon* from chrysler.
Previous vehicles:
2002 Jetta 1.8T, minor mods
2001 Miata LS
1998 Blazer LT

I am looking at a 2006 SS/SC G85. It's got 33k on it and they want $14,995.
How does that price sound?

Also how important is the G85 package. I like the Recaro seats and the fact that it has the limited slip but does it really make that much of a difference.
I have found other SS/SC's that dont have the package at a lower price and since my truck is still in the driveway i cant pick up the cobalt yet, im assuming the silver one g85 that i love is going to get sold :-(

if i cannot find another g85 at a decent price is the reg ss/sc just fine.
Will be driving it back and fourth to school about 250 miles round trip on the freeway and then fun driving around town.

Others that im interested in:
-Buddies 2006 G6 GTP 6spd manual-foose rims complete MTX sound system w/2 15" and components
-Mazdaspeed 3...would be a lease tho(not sure if i wana lease again)
-2008 SRT4 (weary to get another dodge...and again lease)

Thanks guys!
-Tim

i dont have G85 and i could careless. I actually prefer it that way, i dont really like the recaro seats. As far as performance i havent driven a G85 enough to make any comments.

More important than price is to find a car that hasn't been abused and is completely stock IMO.

These cars are known for bad tunes, slipping clutches, cracked tranny casings which all result from driver abuse. Don't be pressured into buying anything until you feel it meets your standards. Plus its not like they only made 100 SS/SC Cobalts...

If the car is just for a DD and will see no type of track time, the LSD won't really matter for you. I prefer the Recaro seats tho. The stock leather ones feel like **** imo.

Like WS said if you don't plan to auto x or road race it the G85 isn't going to do much for it. To daily drive it or take it to the drag strip you certainly don't need the G85 pack. So basically choose based on what you will use the car for.

thanks for the comments...i really like the g85 package because of the seats, havent driven a SS s/c yet, only my neighbors g5 auto so i dont have anything to compare it too..i think the seats look cool and since i cant afford an 07 with heated seats the more fabric will be better in the winter.
car will be a daily driver and see the track maybe once or twice, i race at a road racing course and might run it around there a few times but other than that it's just gonna be a fun street car

Tim,

If you're looking for the biggest bang for the buck vehicle that will give you 25+mpg along with mod potential to get into the 11's. The Caliber SRT4 is the car to go with.
