i've been hearing a lot about the 16" steelies are too small for the SS's, that they hit the brake caliper or something like that. are there any steel wheels out there that'll fit without rubbing? and what size tires should i throw on them? im lookin to get a set of snow tires, because getting stuck on my flat driveway is getting just plain annoying.

I have also heard that and have been told that, but its BS!!! i have 16 inch steelies on with 205/60/16 BFG winter saloms on. 16 is the smallest u can go and looking at my wheels there is barely room between the rim and the brake caliper but i have not had any problems.

I would think 17inch steelies would be kinda expensive anyways

You could always check with Dodge, they make 17inch steelies for the Gay version of the Charger. I don't know about the bolt patttern though...just a though.

Don't forget that dropping down from 18's to 16's will throw your actual mph/kmh off. If the factory set your speedometer to say 60mph on 18's then with 16's your actually going 54 mph.

That doesn't depend on the wheel size it depends on the overall diameter of the tire. My speedo is only off by .2 miles per hour. When it says I'm going 60mph I'm really going 60.2mph, it's slow because my snow tires are .1" bigger than stock in overall diameter.

As far as the 16" steelies, you should be fine, mcphatty. I have 16" G6 rims on and they fit perfect.

I have 16" steelies on my car too ..you will be fine ...

also it wont change your speedo/km if you get proper sized tires

though all of these questions have been discussed ALOT there is even a tire section in the "how to" section

yup, but it may be too late to get steelies. they were sold out in our bolt pattern everywhere I looked.

Good catch alleycat58. My mistake on calculations. Shouold have calculated 215 45r 18 (original tire) and did 215 60r 18.
Big difference.

Good luck finding a pair of "cheap slicks that fit a 16" rim. They are an oddball size. commom slick size is 15" so we are kinda screwed.
