225/40R18 Compared to 215/45R18 = 2.1% too fast / 60MPH = 58.8MPH
235/40R18 Compared to 215/45R18 = 0.8% too fast / 60MPH = 59.5MPH

so the 235 are the best choice..!

unless you wanna f*ck up your speedo

i know a buddy messed up his cavy for putting the wrong tire size on his car..

stock size was 195/50R16.. and put 225/45R17 so that they would look good...

after a while.. tranny went capoute... and the guys isnt the guy who speeds or races.. he just had 17" rims and stereo

tranny blew because it was working harder to get the wheels going.. if you understand

I find that hard to believe thats what killed his trans....i've seen cavy's with 19's and 20's and they never blew a trans cause of the wheel weight.

i know... but they had the right size on the rims..

they must of had like 215/25R20.. something close to the stock one.. but my bud has 5% difference and killed it..

but still

just saying that having the wrong tire will **** up the speedo..

Can I just get a verification that 235/40/18's will be fine with Sportlines and 18x8 wheels? I started a new thread because I searched for "235/40/18 sportlines" and it didn't come up with any results saying it does or doesn't work.

So is anybody out there running 235/xx/18's with 18x8's and sportlines without it rubbing?

yes but u have to watch not to go too wide.. 235s are probably the widest i'd go with stock rims so u dont have rubbing and so they fit good on the rim

Is this a problem in the long term for the transmission ? Or any other problems for that matter ? Of course, I'm talking about the 225/45/18 on the stock rims.

Thanks

hhmmmmm..... so 235/40/R18's would work w/out rubbing even with some sportlines.

Also will my speedo be off?

i run that exact setup. No problems whatsoever. To be honest, on my car at least, it's not even close to rubbing. Kinda wish I had done 235/45. Oh well.
