Hypothetical Question?

Hypothetical Question?

If I have a base (2.2) Cobalt and install as many SS/NA or SS/SC parts as I can
(basically constructing a SS clone)… Am I being a douche?

Is adding SS emblems taking it too far?

Is it cool if Mustang V6 owners construct themselves GT clones? How about Neon owners add the SRT-4 grille/wing?

Just a thought….What does everyone think?

Try to keep it civil though...

im all for certain parts, and all against others.

my v6 mustang had a GT rear bumper, but that was because i liked my exhaust better coming out under a bumper with dual-exhaust intentions than under the stock bumper.

but rebadging? wrong. every time I saw a gt or v6 with rims and badges that said cobra, i wanted to cut them. and cut them deep.

be proud to ride what you bought. jazz it up any way you like, but be real. my v6 was well worked, and beat a lot of things it "shouldn't" have, so I personally loved rubbing it in that it was only a v6.

there's a few clones around here: a neon sxt that has the srt4 wheels, wing, and body kit.

also a mitsu lancer kitted to look like an Evo. doesn't even look close, but the guy thinks it does because he has evolution badging and fancy vinyls down the sides with discount racing seats and 23234656645645 window stickers. the worst v8 clone i ever saw was a Mustang Gt kitted to look like a Mustang GT-R. It was obvious from even a football field away that it wasn't the real deal.

i'm not a big fan of clones. it work sometimes with 60's and 70's musclecars, but modern cars have too many differences in trim between base and top end models.

Damn...you're hard core!

I don't know though...alot of the muscle cars SSs weren't as fast as some as the Stage 2 SS/SCers are...

as far as the styling mods, its fine in my books. ive helped plenty of guys put z24 kits on their base model cavy/sunbirds. heck, i even had a z24 kit on my base 2.0l ohv 86 cavalier (although it was fitting, cause it also got my built 2.8l v6 and 5 speed).

cross badging is a fine line. ss badges on it once it has an ss kit, im ok with that, however supercharged/turbo badges on an n/a car is a big no-no in my books. my buddy has "16 valve high output" badges from a quad 4 beretta gtz on his sunbird. the sunbird never had a dohc motor in it, however it now has a turbo 2.2l ecotec in it, so its fitting

i'd agree with this..but its also a fine line too..if u talk to any impala or camaro owners that see a ss badge put on a car and it not have the full make of a SS car..it had better be stated that its a clone. if u gut ur car and slap in a lsj and get the lip kit and what not..go ahead..badge it accordingly..but to just badge a car with ss/sc and not have 205whp to back it up is kind of dumb on ur part. the badges and wings ask for races..it attracts others to notice the car isnt a base model so running into someone who might wanna race u will be more common after badging it other than what it is...u dont wanna look stupid
