I have a Malibu (08') and occasionally I use the Intermediate shift mode for passing power, or just for fun.

However, it is just the Malibu's that seem to hold the shift to 3rd a little long?

 

i bealve the malibu and g6 are the same overall correct?

if so it seemed like the g6 with the 2.4 was geared a little taller

 

THey all have the same 4T5E tranny.

THe Malibu is the same exact car as the Saturn Aura

 

Each car is geared differently though.

i had an olds alero with the 2.4twin cam (not the 2.4 eco) with an auto tranny, same engine and tranny used in cavaliers, sunfires, grand am's, the late 90's malibu's,cutless ect ect ect.. but the alero had slightly taller grearing then every other car on that list

 

Same with the Cobalt:

2.2 w/auto 3.63:1 final drive
2.4 w/auto 3.91:1 final drive

Cobalt has the "I" too; it holds second gear until 4K RPM with part throttle.
