if you are looking for a brand new ss/sc then i am sorry to say you are most likely out of luck. the ss/sc model has been discontinued. the new model is a ss/tc(turbo charged), but i have a 07 ss/sc and i love the car. downfall is the parts can be a bit pricey for the upgrades.

you should get a saturn ion redline. same motor and everything. and best of all, they're almost always cheaper, and just as fast. not to mention saving money leaves more money for mods! do research on them.

Pros:

Hard car to beat in it's pricerange. If money is your limitation, the cobalt is your car. They come with a Sunroof, pioneer soundsystem, 205hp and 200lb-ft torque that is easily upgraded. The other car you might consider is the Mazda Speed 3. More HP and kinda the same perks as the cobalt for the price.

Cons:

Quality of materials is of debate. Potential of tuning is debatable, too. I say, without trouble you'll peak at around 260hp. Anything above that you realize the mistake of having a sports car FWD and you'll see the limitations of the Cobalt first hand.

If a NEW car isn't your priority and since you specified "potential", I'd find a used 350Z, WRX STi, EVO IX, Audi something, etc etc. The potential of hitting 400hp+ is legitimate and they have the drivetrain to make use of that power. Also, most foriegn cars (IMO) have a better eye for attention to detail and quality.

to tell you the truth am in love with my car. Right now i its stock but i love it, when i get my stage 2 and some other mods oh boy ill have to buckle up. its a very good car i love it. The fuel economy is great it the car it self looks very nice and clean. unfortunately you wont find it no more at the dealers. Or u can go with the ss/tc.

It gets bad gas mileage if you're always pushing the car.

i see the gas millerage with respect to the amount of power the motor makes is good. if you compare it to a stock honda yes its bad. but stock honda makes a lot less power unless you get the SiR

I mean, i average about 29 miles per gallon on mine, while my buddy gets 21 out of his. We are both stock, so I think it comes down to driver habbits.
