Cobalt Addiction CA#1 Springs

After a lot of thought, I decided to get the CA#1 Springs. Similar drop and ride quality (claimed) as the sportlines...but from a vendor thats not as huge. So I wanted to give them a chance. Hopefully they'll be here in the next week or so. I will provide pics of the install and before/after shots. I'll keep ya'll informed.

My friend Jeff used to have them on his '03 Civic EX. They oversettled and had terrible ride quality. He was 6'2" and they made his head hit the roof of his car when he hit small bumps, lol. He ended up switching them out for Suspension Techniques springs later on and liked those MUCH better. I have Sportlines and my ride quality is pretty much identical to that of stock. Like the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for".

Well after a dramatic two month wait...the CA#1 springs are in! About two hours of labor because I was by by myself and took my sweet 'ol time...but the install went perfectly. I do wish the ass end was just a hair lower, but they might settle in.

Here are some crappy camera phone shots, I'll take some better pics tomorrow and update on the ride quality. Enjoy!

Thats what Cobalt Addiction claims. I really didn't wanna slam it or have a really stiff spring. So I think this should work out well.

that's what happens when you deal with a company that never has a single product in stock. they take your money. use it to order the product. then they just pocket the profit while you wait lol. yeah great business.

being that these springs only srop the car an inch, this prob means they will abuse the stock struts and shocks less then the other options.... man some one needs to come out with some strut shocks for are car, i know i know the konis but i hate the fact u have to rig the front

Dude I ordered a Carbon fiber hood from them once and it took 5 months to refund my money! I would never do business with them again!

damn if its going to take that long to get my springs I am about to cancel my order. I placed my order yesterday and was hoping to have these by this weekend to install. At the pace of 20 days to receive that will not happen and 1/2 the show season will be over

I don't like trash talking, but the service was not up to par on this order. OVER two months...and I always had to contact them for updates! Ordered March 5th, Delivered May 21st. But when they finally did ship the springs, I got them the next day...go figure...

Anyways, the performance quality is not "mind-blowing-ly" better, I would say slightly better than stock. Less body roll, tighter in the corners, but still retains a comfortable ride, and makes the car just a tad bit sexier, all of which I was going for.

I had a unique learning experience with these springs too. I didn't realize that the rear springs have a top and bottom. Meaning, one third of the spring compresses more than the other two thirds. You can't tell until you lower the car off the jack stands. And this more-compressed third should be on the top. It was making a strange clank/clunk over bumps until I flipped the springs over.

I also cut the bump stops according to the How-To post. Oh yeah, I used the How-To Install Springs...and it was great!! Thanks for the write up!

I dont know if it's just me being ****, but the drop on the front was more than expected, and the rear was not as much as expected. CA claims .75" front, 1.25" rear...in the pics I'm kinda not liking the ass end...needs to be just a smidge lower. This is only the second day so I'm hoping that there is a settling in period.

Aaaaaand now, what you've alllllllll been waiting for!!

I have bad news for you. The fronts will probably settle more than the rears. That was the case with my Progress springs.

I was kinda hoping you weren't gonna bring that point up its been in the back of my mind too. I am seriously considering cutting the rears just a bit if they dont start to match...sigh, nothing is ever perfect huh?

How does the ride compare to stock now that you have them installed?

Check out my 3rd post on the bottom of page1. I'd say it's slightly better than stock...

I just got my set in the mail today. There were no instruction included. Does anyone know if the bumpstops need to be cut with these springs and if so how much? Also which springs go in the front and which ones are for the rear? I have a good idea but just want to make certain. Guess i could just compare the ones I take out to the ones I put in lol

Bump Stops

I think you'll like em. Once the ass settles down it doesnt look so bad...i've gotta take some pics, we're on week 3 now, and they look way better.

The springs with a tapered end go on the rear. Also read through my first couple posts about which end goes "up top" on the rear springs.
