Check out this site: MotorsportReg | racing, track day, HPDE, autocross, sport bike, karting & motocross events

That's generally where I go to find events and price things out. You can sometimes find some really good deals. A couple years ago I found an event that was created on short notice and got to run the day at Pocono Long for $185 on a random Tuesday.

Going to take my Cobalt out to Road America tomorrow. Got to love instructing gigs where track time is dirt cheap. Hopefully it doesn't rain.

If it is your first time you need to do the 2 day deal. At the end of the first day you just start to really get it and have the taste to push it more. Another way to save on track time is to sign up a ways in advance. A lot of groups drop the price by $50 to $100 if you book with them 6 months in advance. Just be careful though because once you get bit by the track bug life gets more expensive!
