HID's: What you should know before you buy!
Thanks for the kind words guys!
I'd like to point out that this is a collection of info that I gathered on my own research journey....
It's the best stuff I saw off of HIDPlanet, as well as the key points I've picked up from an0malous, mercury, silverSS/SC, and the other HID guru's on CSS.net.
So, actually they are the guys that we should all be thanking.

To date, NHTSA has investigated 24 HID conversion kit suppliers; all investigations have resulted in recalls or termination of sales.

Comments from HID experts!
I will be adding in helpful comment as they roll in!
Ebay projectors will give you a cutoff similar to that picture, but they definitely won't be as sharp. A retro fit will get you a sharp cut off.
Right... the cut off stops the light from blinding others.
Some projectors will come some-what aligned... but it's good practice to properly align them properly to suit your car.
Alright thanks!!! is there any possibility that there's an aligning (how-to or sticky) around the forum isn't it??
The video got deleted, but the info is still helpful...

So I've been trying to find some decent projectors for my Cobalt SS. I really didnt want to spend much more than $250 or so (including shipping and handling). Are there any suggestions as to which ones to go with (links would be most excellent). I can change out bulbs later, i mostly just dig the styling of the Projectors.
My projectors are aimed almost perfect and I illuminate overhead signs on highways and when I pull behind someone at a light, I have light shine inside their car. You can fix this by taking the lenses apart and filling the holes with muffler repair putty or covering them with aluminum tape or something. This will almost eliminate that glare above the cutoff line.
Just thought everyone would like to know this, especially those wondering how to fix it.
in regards to aiming.. how far does the cut off line have to be from the ground? im assuming its the distance from the center of the bulb to the ground but do you measure to the top part of the cut off line or the lower part
However in regards to the Ebay projectors, at least the 3rd Gen ones which I have, there is alot of light that escapes above the cutoff line. This really bothered me so I researched further into it and found it is caused by what are called "Squirrel Finders" or "Squirrel Spotters" that are in Projectors designed for Halogen bulbs (like the Ebay projectors) Hence the stickers on them that say "do not use HID bulb"
The proper height is a 2.1-2.5" drop below center.
So I took my 3rd Gens apart this week, removed the squirrel spotter shield type thing and filled the screw hole with muffler putty. No more glare above the cutoff line
Just to let others know, there is ALOT more glare using the 3rd Gen projectors with HID's than with using HID's in the stock lenses, way more! There is a reason why there is a sticker on them saying "HID bulb not allowed"

I have a question, will the ebay projectors with the angel eyes fit my current HIDs or do i have to get a special set to go with those lights as I think I have heard before?

... and if he doesn't I will!
