If you get the Plasti Dip clear coat, yeah. I wouldn't use any other clear coat if you're going to use Plasti Dip paint, you know? Just wouldn't make sense.

wetsand with 400 grit, then clean with "wax and grease remover" ( sold at walmart in a green can) then paint. if you want the REAL paint, like in a body shop...you can buy the Killer Can's from alsa. Its the poly urethane paint with the hardener in the can itself. $40 a can. but its worth every penny!

i wouldnt paint my wheel with walmart paint. that stuff is cheap, fades fast, and if you whipe laquer to it, it will come right off since its acrylic paint.

Black caliper paint. Several of my friends rims, including mkulrey13's, were done with that. Covers very well and is very durable!
i painted my calipers last year with DUPLICOLOR from wal-mart. used the gloss finish not intended for heat. never failed on me. the caliper still look perfect, no peeling or flaking

i used duplicolor flat black enamel (IMPORTANT: if you use enamel paint, use enamel clear... lacquer paint, lacquer clear).... the clear coat will take on the characteristics of the paint (flat paint, clear looks flat/ gloss paint, clear looks gloss etc etc...)

It'll chip off and it won't stick well. Sanding helps the paint spread evenly and it gives the paint something to stick to on the wheel. Trust me, just sand them. Don't cut corners.

^painting is easy but sanding you hate? sanding is easy, your ******* something up. when you sand, your just looking to put tiny scratches in the surface thats enough for paint to adhere to and fill in, without showing those scratches in the finish. 600 grit works pretty well for this. but rattle can paint is completely different than spray gun's and rattle can paint fill sin very deep scratches, so this usually isnt an issue.

need to know how to do it? take sandpaper in your hand, rub it all over the rim. when there is no more gloss left to the finish of the rim, spray it.

Here's some results of using the Plasti Dip paint.

Keep in mind you can remove it with some force. I'm definitely going to try this stuff soon.

^also know i seen that kid last night and he took it off hsi rims cause they were "a bitch to clean" i presume that the rubberised coating was just causing problems or wasnt the finished look the owner was going for.

Seems every1 is nuthuggin this plasti-dip **** lately, when the only 2 cars iv seen do it have removed it shortly after. 1 in person, 1 on the VW forums. If you want your rims to look good, paint/powedercoat them. rattle cans when done correctly can look amazing, only problem is that you cant really wetsand buff rattle cans to make it look glassy, you wind up getting a little texture in it, rims is fine, but its making me want to clear my taillights with a real paint gun instead of the rattle can clear

your welcome buddy. lets see some pics when there done just remember to get all the finger prints and grease off those rims, painting is the easiest part, is prep that sucks. Use a blow nozzle on an air compressor and blow all sanding debris out of lug nut holes and ****. and spray the clear how you want it to look. spray it a little wet and heavy, just be careful not to run
