We have a bunch of Des Moines 'balts... I am from Newton. We had a meet at Iowa speedway for drag racing earlier this summer and there was what? 7 of us and one Ion redline?

thats bout 40 mins. away...the reason i posted this thread is because i was trying to find this kid who drives an ss/sc, like mine, but its the sunburst orange...and i see him around ankeny like all the time, but i never really get a chance to talk 2 him cuz i only see him driven around...

 

Ive seen the same car in downtown DMI, I have a buddy that lives in ankeny with a galant VR4 that sees him all the time too.. We had a little cobalt get together one time on the loop downtown and we could not get him to pull in, I do not believe his is on cobaltss.net

I'm in Ames, but I have some friends throughout Des Moines and a couple in Ankeny. I've only had mine for a few weeks and want to meet up w/ others. I used to have 2 Miatas and was big into the Miata Club of America. I'll be in Des Moines for the Des Moines Valley Region of SCCA's autocross on 9/20.

I just moved from Ames to Des Moines! Too bad ya didn't get the car a little sooner!

 

Correction. It's the same date, but has been moved to Ankeny at the DMACC campus- one of their parking lots. Maybe see some more Cobalts there.

It's an autocross race. Anyone is welcome. Lots of people watch, but it's $35 to race. If you've never been to one before, it's a lot of fun. Cars of all kinds ranging from a Kia Rio to Acura NSX to shfter carts to old MGBs. You race against time through a slalom course. It's Sunday 9/20. Checkin for those racing ends at 10:30a I think. Racing usually goes on until around 5pm. You need to come, you wont regret it.

Your picture looks like you're autocrossing. Have you raced recently and around here? I just raced the last one of the season a couple weeks ago at Adventureland parking lot for the Des Moines Valley Region of SCCA. I never see any Ion Redlines around.

 

The picture is a year or two old. It was at one of the Des Moines SCCA events at Oskaloosa airport. It was pretty fun. I haven't really done any in awhile though.
