Question Price for a supercharger etc?

Hey, I understand the same s/c thats in the SS/SC is able to fit in a SS 2.4L if so, how much (Canadian) and what do I all need for the instalation? I wouldn't do the work myself ! My dealer does'nt seem to really know much!! except how much the S/C is and just the S/C I'm not going to mention the price..oh and what would the power gains be? thanks.. sorry I couldn't find a thread on this subject!

why does everyone with an N/A balt want to slap a supercharger on their car the first thing they do ...you know they offer a supercharged version from factory right ??? did you think it was going to be cheaper (like you will benefit from the economies of scale that GM does)

there are loads of threads on this ..

well first off, they have 2.4 instead of 2.0 that can help alot. Plus Insurance will think you have NA 2.4 but in turn you will have a boosted one. also it comes in an automatic witch can really help with the launch.

Personally, if they had the 2.4 i may have purchased it, and gotten a turbo instead of a SC

all the obvious reasons aside its not economical to do it ...

not to mention withholding info from insurance is a great way to get zero coverage in case they can link modifications to having any part in the accident

and the AT is something that is going to have to be upgraded as well with the kind of power that would make it worth S/Cing

and since when does a conventional auto help with launch ...picking the rev you want to drop it at has always been a benefit ..

mostly my point is ..why do people com here asking these questions when it is almost certain they will never FI a car and is typically going to cost more to achieve the same kind of speed you could have got from factory

Go turbo. 2.4 turbo. If you want a supercharger, go with a 2.0 ss.

the 2.4 has a higher compression ratio, i would think about that before going to any method of forced induction. i think even the 2.2L is borderlined with a compression ratio of 10:1.

Have a nice day

making good n/a power is definatley more expensive than adding boost, and both these engines can make 250 whp before lowering the compression so if that enough power for you then dont worry about the compression

Really??!! Cool..I'm not so much worried about cost as I am about taking the engine out and having to open it up..I do like the sound of a S/C (no turbo thanks)..Again if anyone has a clue as how much or what I all need would still be greatly appreciated; and yes I know I own a 2.4L and maybe just maybe should have bought a S/C but oh well. Sure would be nice to have something a little different though eh!

a 2.4 liter supercharged engine would be cool and maybe even better than an ss , youll have to wait until a complete kit is available for either the 2.2 or 2.4 as i think they will both fit, you might be able to use the 2.0 supercharger componats but you are gonna need a dealership to work with you and be cool with you to get it done that way,

this kit on here is pretty expensive

there are loads of threads on this ..

I for one chose the to go with the non-supercharged because if I do want to build the engine I have more to work with. Also, I do not care for the boy-racer wing on the SS/SC.
