I witnessed a bone stock 06 GT run 13.8 three times in a row. With that said I would have to say in the right conditions and the right driver they can drop into the 13.5 range. Back to the question, I have never raced one but with a good driver I'm sure I would lose.

dang the numbers just keep droppin.

this sounds like a rice conversation.

oh and the "bone stock" thing makes me smile, i was at the track lastnight and there were 2 lightnings.

1 guy had bought his 1 month ago and had nothing done.
the other guy said he had had his for a year and kept talking smack about how my cobalt (stage 2) would get blown away.

I said "if your stock i might surprise you"

and hes like Im running mid 13's 'BONE STOCK'

im like, uhhh ok cool.

then about 30 minutes later i heard him bragging to another guy about his $300 intake and the $800 he dropped on a pully and performance chip

he ran a 13.8 not bad for *cough* *giggle* "bone stock"

oh by the way....the guy with the ACTUAL bone stock one?
15.1. all night.

I raced my friends new 06 Mustang GT, I raced him from a stop and from a roll (50km/h) I put 3-4 cars on him in the 1/4mile and beat him pretty good on the roll too. I was pretty surprised.

Yeah, I must admit that stright line stock vs stock the stang would be faster - I have also driven the new GT and own my SS/SC and the stang does feel quicker. Mind you, torque does make you feel faster. Anyway, my best friend and I are heading up to Muskoka today and we're both gonna take our cars and follow each other. I'll let you know how I match up - although I do have an brand new 07 with 1000KM so I doubt I'll have everything my car could put out.

His only mods are Borla cat-back (which I must admit sounds sikk)

the other night i was driving with my girlfriend to the movies and a new mustang pulled up next to me it was just the based model with an after market exhuast it was a younger girl in the driver seat, she rolls down her window looks at me and says nice car to bad you couldnt afford a mustang , obviously i couldnt help but luaghing so my response was sell i could have but i would rather buy a fast carfor a couple grand less her response is oh so you think your little four banger can take me i said no i know it can take you and i will get 30 miles per gallon doing it so the light turns green we both go and long story short i had maybe six car lengths by a hundred then she drove by looking away in embarassment that will teach her to underestimate the power of the cobalt

That doesn't mean anything except that the driver/track/tires totally blow. Several '05 GT's went 13.4 BONE STOCK. In fact, even the clods at Motor Trend managed a 13.5 in a bone stock manual, and 13.6 w/ an Auto.

Just because one person runs one time with a stock car doesn't mean that's what it SHOULD be running. Otherwise, I guess all Cobalt SS/SC's run 15.4 because I saw someone on here run that once.

06' stang GT vs. 06' SS/SC on track

I raced a brandy new 06' GT convert. last friday at Autobahn CC south http://www.autobahncountryclub.net/southmap.pdf
both my 06' SS/SC and his 06' GT are bone stock, he knows the track as he is the member and was the guest. Also, I know he's a great driver.
Anyways, he pulled me a bit on the straights but the corners were mine....
all in all, it turn out to be a fairly even match ... or I was tenths ahead!!!

I figured the 300hp would dominate but no...... Cobalts rock!

Automotive Country Clubs FTW!!!!

Oh, and nice run. I can't imagine why he'd buy a Convertible if he planned on racing a road course, but yeah.

My mom has an 05 GT auto. Before I got stage kits she would beat me by 1-2 cars. Now after stage two i beat her by 1-2 cars...She always gets me off the line cuz I have no traction in 1st gear and have to start off easy but once the SS is in 2nd I start reeling the stang in quickly.

Off topic:
They are repaving some roads here and i was at a red light on part of the road that they had grated down and I was actually able to see what it feels like to give the car hell from a stop and have NO wheelspin...it was amazing...

Here is some blown mustangs that run 10s for a lot less than what it would cost to put a blown GTO in the 10s http://www.procharger.com/2005_mustang_stock.shtml

Thumbs up It's a deal

Hey Mattdville 16, sounds like a plan. I'm not familiar with IRP is that the Drag Strip in Indy. If so, that's only about 40 minutes for me. Tuesday's are usually open for me. Just let me know what tuesday. In the meantime I'll check out the strip's web site.

the mustang is way quicker stock for stock and it's make you look stupid to claim otherwise. At my track the Mustangs are 14.0 cars and the cobalts are high 14- not even close. I say these things as a casual observer- I am a Dodge guy and don't really care who's quicker but come on lets be real.

with my stock Redline I won 3 race out of 5 against a new Mustang. The owner is always at the track too. His best is 13.8 but he averages about 14.2.
I now run consistent 14.2@97 mph. So I think it's possible to beat em but the 06 Mustang is a faster car. Just hope he isn't a great driver.

QFT

14.0 to 14.5 on the 1/4 mile is basically a drivers race with a slight advantage.

if he doesnt hit it on the money you can snag him.
they dont have enough power to make up for mistakes.

Exactly ! Now this guy was a decent driver, imagine if he was a newb who just got the car.
Unless the car is a 12 second rocket, the SS/SC or Redline has a chance.
