A/t Shift Lever Binding!!
2.2 AUTO LS COUPE NOW HAS 1400 MILES, AND SHIFT LEVER IS NOW BINDING!.
The rubber boot that slides with the lever has become bunched up in fornt of the lever. it has gotten to the point where it almost wont go into park!. I was experiencing stiffness in the lever starting a few days ago, then all of the sudden it bunches up in front of lever. It was scary for a moment, without park the key wont come out, once i jammed it into park, the release button was almost impossible to sepress again, WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!!. This is the 4th major issue i have had with this vehicle in 3 weeks. And am now in the process of looking into lemon laws for my state. POTENTIAL COBALT BUYERS BEWARE!!!

A lot of people have had issues, it's not uncommon for a car in it's first year of production. That's something that should be fixed under warrenty. Unless you are completely unhappy with the car, I would say just give it some time.

The simplest little problem occurs and people are ready to call their cars lemons and claim that they are "crap". These are minor fixes here people - the cars aren't falling apart, we don't have blowing engines, grinding transmissions, clunky suspension, ect. These are little annoyances that can easily be fixed at the dealer.
Its very simple. You take it to the dealer. They fix the issue for free. You pay nothing and leave with your car good as new. Why do people get so upset about it?? Its a brand new vehicle, its not going to be 100% perfect or problem free in its first year of production

...most people have better things to do then having to take it to the dealer after working for ten hours...plus isnt one of the main reasons you buy a new car is so you dont have to worry about it breaking down or having to bring it in to the shop every other week...and yes...sure its free to fix it, but what about when the warranty ends...your complacent(its not going to be 100% perfect or problem free in its first year ) attitude is why GM is losing market share every year...why shouldnt it be 100% perfect...you make it sound as is if GM has never built a car before...they have close to a 100 years of car building experience...the plant that its built at has plenty of years experience from building the Cavalier...not even the platform its on is brand new

This car has 1400 miles, and have owned for 4 weeks. Of that 4 weeks, 12 days have been spent fixing all those little problems you are speaking of: rear window leaking, B pillar coming apart in interior, shift lever binding up, which i was able to fix, but *******, this is my wife's car, she would not have a clue to do that repair on the fly. NOW, the park brake light is flashing when driving. WHAT A PIECE OF ****!. my only mistake was allowing my wife to choose between 3 cars: cobalt, tc, element. I betcha had she picked the toyo or honda, we would'nt be forming such a close relationship with their service departments!! I HAVE PURCHASED IN MY LIFETIME 6 BRAND NEW VEHICLES, this one by far has been the worst for initial quality.

After reading through that jumbled post, its seems that you had the following issues with your car:
Rear window Leak: Kind of serious, as it could ruin the interior, but I'm assuming it was only leaking a few drops. One trip to the dealr to have them re-seal the back window.
B-Pillar: I'm assuming just the B-pillar trim fell off. Can't get much more minor than that. Just take it into the dealer at your convienance, doesn't need to be repaired immediately.
Shift Boot: You must be joking. The Shift boot "bunched up" and you consider that a major flaw?? All you had to do was "un-bunch" it with your hand, problem solved.
E-brake light: Could be a couple different reasons for it to come on. Either a problem with the brake system (doubtful) or a faulty sensor (likely). One trip to the dealer to have them fix the issue, whatever it may be.
All in all you've only experienced about two real problems, the leaking window and the e-brake light. The other two are a joke, calling a car a "piece of crap" based on that kind of nonsense obviously shows that you are just trying to badmouth the car.
I had the same problem with my car(shifter binding). Dealer replaced the shifter, no problem. People don't buy a new car because it won't have problems. They buy a new car because these problems are covered under warranty. That's the reason warranties are such a selling point. I'm not familiar with the Element and whether or not it has similar problems. I have spent time reading forums on the TC (it was the other car I considered purchasing) and it has had similar problems in it's first year of production.

the E BRAKE light is a TSB item... the computer needs to be reflashed at the dealer... just chill out, dont be so hard on your car, and have faith in the damn car! its my assumption that if you are having THIS MANY problems, its OPERATOR ERROR, and if they keep reoccuring, you either need to stop abusing the car, or find a better service department at another dealer...
its people like you that made me hate my job at the dealer i used to be at...
