Anyone have Overheating?

Today my temperature light came on and the coolant temp was 255. I did have the AC on and was driving in traffic, but I do not think this should be happening on a brand new car. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks.

yea thats way too hot, I took my 2.2 for long trips all summer and barely topped 200, there is just no reason for the car to be that hot.

Mine hits somewhere right close to 200 during "normal" driving... I personally think that's a bit warm but I suppose that's how these 4 cylinders run.... definately get anything over 240 checked out.

I read in celcius, so I have no idea what 255 is. My car has never gone over 104 degrees yet.

104 C = 219 F

255 F = 124 C

People at the solsticeforum.com are reporting ~215 F (102 C) in stop-n-go traffic. The fan in the Solstice turns on at that point and drops the car down into the ~190 F range before shutting back off.

Perhaps the fan isn't running long enough? or soon enough?
