Lightbulb headers, downpipes, etc..

Heya. I've got a 2007 cobalt ss, non-s/c. I was thinking of putting some headers, downpipes, and cold air intake in it. Also, cutting out the cat and muffler. What do you guys think? I figured I'd not go too high-end on things, this is the first car I've modified. Don't want to spend more than a couple grand or so. I'll also throw in a short-shifter kit probably (frigging annoying clunky stock shifting). I believe I'll have 'er lowered an inch and a half or two. Any suggestions for links to cheaper parts and installation for Canada. would be welcome.

Also, at what point do I have to worry about replacing other parts that could be damaged from too much extra horsepower (pulleys, camshafts, etc.)?

O.K., I've done some research, and now I'm thinking CA header, CA downpipes w/o cat(I'll have to find out what the deal is with emissions here, may have to get a flange welded on or something to replace cat when needed), XTC cold air intake, and stock s/c injectors with tune. That Corsa exhaust on CA sounds pretty sweet, anyone here got it?
Will I need new pulleys or anything with this set up?
Also, would just a strut bar make a noticeable difference in handling?

Well you can really only put one downpipe on the car and header for that matter.

from what I've read here it seems people are getting good results from the #32 injectors (which are apparently stock on the supercharged cobalts) with the proper harness. It seems a similar intake and exhaust system as what I'm considering, with the o2 sensor turned off, and whatever other tuning is involved, can benefit from adding these injectors, which don't seem too pricey. What kind of cost would I be looking at for a good tuning? I can probably handle the installation with the help of some friends who're into modifying cars.

Revised wish list:

XTC DOwnPIPE w/o cat 2.5"

CA Stainless Steel Header

CA Sport Springs

HURST Short Throw Shifter

CA Cold Air Intake

CORSA SPORT Catback Exhaust

"Ok it seems like us 2.4 guys NEED the injectors from the stock 2.0SC cars for a tune to work properly"
"The CORRECT harness you need is from a 2003 to 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire. This harness plugs directly into our main harness and then the 2.0 injectors plug directly into the harness." -Jackalope

So those, and maybe some strut brace or sway bar or some other...

You wouldn't damage your camshafts or your pulley...never heard of either being damaged cause of too much horsepower, not even sure how that would even be possible.

What is your goal power wise?

In his original post he said "ss, non s/c" which is the 2.4 motor.

You might have just overlooked it.

Basically I want as much power as possible without compromising fuel efficiency.

...I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

When you're focusing on power, you're going to use more fuel and also this is focusing at wide open throttle. You're going to compromise more fuel when you have more power at WOT than with a vehicle with less power.

If you know how to tune, you can tune for both Gas Mileage and Power.

Thanks for your patience, I'm a complete noob.

I just talked to my local GM dealer, he says the GMPP exhaust system includes a downpipe and cat. Now I'm thinking I'll either go with that, or, the corsa exhaust with CA no cat downpipe. I'll just have to keep the old downpipe with catalytic converter to bolt back on to pass our "aircare" program here.

last time i looked i wasn't aware that the gmpp exhaust system replaced your downpipe at all... they have a gmpp extrude honed exhaust manifold, and a corsa cat back... is there something i'm missing? I'm actually looking to do similar mods so this would be much help

my list ( not to ***** your thread up, but just so we don't have 2 threads about the same thing ) right now looks like

right now i'm looking at staying decently cheap if possible.

cat back
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TSUDO...26261082QQrdZ1

header
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-E...27239835QQrdZ1

downpipe
http://www.cobalt-addiction.com/prod...s/headers.html (xtc)

I figure from this it'll run me about 670 or so after shipping.

I know i'm probably going to get flamed for trying to go cheap but i'd like to wake up the car slightly, as well as get a nicer exhaust note. the DP doesn't seem bad neither does the cat back... i'm wondering about the header but it's almost cheap enough to give it a shot...

with these mods i think it should wake up about 10-15 hp or so.. and i'm looking to get a tune which should wake the car up a bit more...

what about the zzp header DP combo?
