Which Tires Should I Get

I need to get some winter tires for my Cobalt SS.. Since the factory 18's will be crap and probably just end up crashing my car..

So I am looking at some 16" winter steelies and tires.. 16" is the smallest we can go with the big brakes..

So the tires will be like 205-50-16 (or something like that)... With MackTeck Hub Centric rims (not sure whot he company is or if it is spelt right)..

So if you guys can suggest the best tire that I have listed that would be great.. I think I have my choice down to 2 or 3 of them. But I jsut wanna see what other people think.. I don't care if its a performance snow tire ot just a really good snow tire.. As long as they are good tires and work well in the snow..

BTW.. I am getting these rims and tires package for good deals.. The prices range from $846 - $1034 CDN.. Thats with tires and rims..

Here is the pages to the tires

Slalom

Revo1

M3

Icebear

Pilot Alpin

Snowsport

Hakkapeliitta 2

Thats it I think. It's a fair amount to choose from..

I got a set of 17" Pirelli SnowSports. Put them on for 500 miles to break them in. Very nice on dry pavement, can't wait to see how they do in snow.

205/60-R16 is the right size for the SS/SC, that keeps your diameter roughly identical to stock. I think I'm getting the M3s as well.

Working with tires all day long I suggest the Pirelli tires, they have a great stiff sidewall for maximum handling on dry pavement and a great asymetrical design for slushy highway. If you want performance forget about the winter slalom they re made for buick century or somewhat like this(working in a Gm dealer in Quebec SO BELIEVE DAMMIT)

Well I'm reading up on the tire sizes & waht not as I live in Iowa & we have been pretty lucky but this morning I woke up to 2" of snow & thats nothing for Iowa & I traded in a 4x4 Tahoe.

So after driving to work I feel the need to park the SSSc Cobalt or I have to get winter tires & now I'm wondering do I have to get different rims to ???

I'd like to get a nice set of Polished wheels for summer & put snows on the stock rims but after reading abit in this thread I see that might not be an option.

If read it right I will need different rims and tires for winter driving right ?? & from what I see the 205/60 are the right size to maintain the proper calibrating for the speedo.

Also what do I need to watch for buying rims as far as clearance & so forth?

Please post what you have & any advise as I ether will buy a beater car & park my Cobalt or I will get tires & rims !

There are winter tires available for the 18s but it will set you back on the wallet. I say buy steelies and sell the stock ones. That will pay for your winter tires and steelies.
