My argument is that it can be free. There are forums out there (NASIOC for example) that have created their own forum app that they distribute for free.
To people who hate on this topic and say "just use the browser" - It is super annoying to have to re-zoom every time you load a new thread, plus each page loads much much quicker in a format that was designed for mobile browsing. With so many people using smart phones it is nothing but laziness to have a site with this large of a user base that doesn't support some form of mobile browsing/app.

Mobile apps are available for IOS and Android in the App Store and Play Store respectively. Search for the IB AutoGroup app which gives you mobile access to all 100+ IB communities. Search for CobaltSS within the app. Thanks!
